99.9% of the cases the "Adapted from a novel" should be a dead give away that shouldn't bother. It's going to skip a ton, probably won't end, or if it ends it will only go so far, and they might end up butchering scenes because it was popular and they wanted to show it on the adapted manga even if the ground work that was on the novel is missing on the adaptation.

You might get one or two manga that actually take their own path and became enjoyable on their own right, the Battle Royal manga wasn't bad for example, but you are not getting anything original and you will be missing shit, always.
