I for one found Light's rise as very compelling. A seemingly ordinary man who sought a just world, going on an ego trip who could arguably have never actually done anything wrong. Too bad he was a high schooler, who relied on some overly absurd keikaku.

I like the FMA manga/Brotherhood, but that's a better origin story for Hohenheim than it is for Father.

To be honest, I found Father in general to be pretty boring. Even Honhenheim points out that he's pretty bland after getting rid of his sins.

Sure he was a "clone" of Hohenheim, but how was that slave owner guy able to make a "homunculus" out of another person and then literally no one else in history was able to do it. All the other homunculus are just philosopher stones.
