Cuz it was overrated and didn't age well after 20 years.

Lacked lots of substance compared to Eva which was landmarking and aged better in contrast instead.

This coming from someone who liked bebop more back then until later.

The only reason Cowboy Bebop is considered a classic is due to having a western aesthetic. If it had a japanese theme (like Samurai Champloo) no one would give a shit about it.

Two major reasons.
1. Rei vs. Asuka is THE anime waifu war.
2. Beebop is pretty straight forward. Once it's over, there's really nothing left to talk about. Eva is a bit more 2001 (The movie), in that, even years later, people still argue endlessly about what the fuck was actually going on and what it all meant.
