That's not /a/ though. SAO (at least the first arc) is horribly mediocre. People started hating it for becoming popular despite of that, then some e-celebs decided to rag on it ("look at these flaws I can find [the very definition of mediocre] so it's shit and if you like it you're dumb!") and now hating SAO is the fashionable thing to do. Now, despite the show's popularity, you will rarely find a video defending it and ragging on it (and basically repeating what your predecessors said without adding anything new) is guaranteed clickbait.

I will say this: the Aincrad arc wasn't bad. It was glaring to see how Sachi was just forgotten, some episodes felt like filler and the conclusion was utterly shit, but we can't forget that it was the feel of the setting and its initial appeal that drew us in. A lot of people rag on Kirito being Jesus-kun and they're right, but they have to forget that until we learn that Heathcliff is actually Akayaba, Heathcliff actually proves this whole thing wrong. He is a guy with a unique ability, like Kirito, who kicks Kirito's ass. It almost appeared as if the show was shifting paradigms from "only Kirito matters" to "Only guys with unique abilities matter, and there are guys stronger than Kirito".
