He was Hiruko, the first child of Izanagi and Izanami (so he's an older brother to Amaterasu and a lot of other major shinto gods). He was born deformed (due to Izanami messing up the marriage ritual by talking before Izanagi) and got discarded. In the LN's backstory, he got saved by a human ancestor of Sasami and became loyal to her and her line, so that's why he was in a sort of older brother role looking after Sasami.

Does ZAQ have some sort of popularity-vampire ability where any show that uses her songs for OPs are bound to flop? I really like Alteration, but both this show and others like Chunnibyou and Flip Flappers are sucked of their popularity quickly while her songs end up doing okay to so-so in the rankings.

Or how it never made sense that the Imperial Line was passed down through the males, when it was a Goddess that gave the power. The logic that the Male Line was just the decoy and the female line was the real imperial family actually made sense.
