So here's the deal, Togashi saved Jumps ass back then with Yuyu Hakusho in the time between Dragonball and One Piece.
He was also pretty pissed at them because they worked him like a horse and forced him to butcher most of the story he wanted to tell.
So he only agreed to publish HxH in jump under the condition that he was able to choose the content of his contract.
So he got the best contract you can imagine:
-They can't fire him or discontinue the series.
-They have to publish anything he gives them.
So no, they can't replace Togashi.

I asked because personally i dropped this shit at the end of 2015 when we went an entire year without a chapter. Only heard about it "coming back" because i saw some threads about in here on /a/.

I would say stay strong, but honestly I don't regret dropping the series in the slightest and don't even feel any wish to catch up on the chapters i've missed. It's really liberating to not be emotionally held hostage my a lazy mangaka.
