Looking back on old anime is always great because everybody forgets about the other 90% of trash anime that aired at the same time. Seriously go look at all the forgotten tosh that aired at the same time as code geass. Picking good anime from the last 20 years is much easier than picking from the last 1-2 years. Watching (good) anime as a hobby is like drinking from a cup that refills slowly.
