This is the problem. You shouldn't be using any contrast, brightness, or settings that change the image at all. You do that when cleaning, with photoshop. The raw is meant to be RAW.
Use 300 dpi too. I recommend you get irfanview and scan with that.

My japanese fujo friend says it's to the point that the fandom for a pairing of X and Y where "X tops Y" and "Y tops X" are two totally different things. The way she puts it seems as if the two sides do not get along with each other and engage in shipping wars with each other. Pixiv tags in japan are also specifically written in order to indicate which character is the top and which is the bottom. To my knowledge, it doesn't seem like this is as much of an issue in the western fandom, but am I wrong? Sorry if this question doesn't belong here.

I have seen porn that caters both ways depending on if you prefer to be the dominant or submissive. Stereotypically porn directed at males focus solely on the submissive one whereas porn directed at women seem to focus on both.
