Any reason why Gunsmith Cats didn't have its own TV series?

At least there were two OVAs, sort of.

TV series were less common back then and it wasn't uncommon for OVAs in that time period to basically be a pilot and determine whether or not the series got a TV series as a result.

The OVAs probably didn't sell well enough to get funding for a full series.

Too much money to make, too much time to get the details right, not enough material to adapt and not enough intrest from fans.

Also, the villain from the OVA was basically all three of the antagonists from the Manga rolled into one character.

I'd rather ask why no one seems to give half a shit about Sonoda's series post Gunsmith Cats and scanlate Bullet The Wizard.
