Nah, Berserk is significantly worse. Kemono Friends knows its limitations and doesn't often try for crazy shots or anything, instead relying on the strength of it's character designs and storyboarding/direction. There's a lot packed into comparatively little character animation, so the style winds up being kind of endearing instead.

Berserk on the other hand kept trying to be all badass and epic and emulate the manga, so everything just looked like shit because the wooden movement and poor quality models didn't do it anywhere near justice. It's a fucking farce especially compared to the quality of the original manga's art.

Berserk in proper film-tier CGI probably would have worked out, but the janky cel-shaded crap was the dumbest idea ever.

Agreed, it felt wrong in every sense of the word.

It never takes itself seriously which does help people let the animation quality slide.

Overall it's a cute show. I still don't understand why it's so popular in Japan but they are an odd bunch and latch onto things in inexplicable ways.

Posting psueodo lewds happens in almost all threads and that can't be helped, but /a/ memes of "which girl has the best sweaty armpits" or "I bet X has nice smelling poop" are complete garbage and fall out of line with the show. Its inevitable that once a show gains enough traction to pull people into the threads, who wouldn't otherwise, that these things get spammed. It just sucks to see once nice and relaxing threads begin to fall under /a/'s "board culture"

The difference here is that KemoFure doesn't really call attention to any of that kind of fanservice. They're more things that you notice if your eyes just happens to wander. And what's more, you just had to get a screenshot from episode two, which attests to the fact that it's pretty rare as well. Sure you could probably also point to Rhino's pantsu in the last episode ( I really wouldn't go so far as to add the one before it ), but still, that's only 2 episodes out of 7. Given that, I'd say the show has been pretty tame, and as it's billed, pretty family friendly.

Aside from otter (whose outfit is a swimsuit) and the idols (who are idols) most the characters are dressed pretty tamely. The most revealing outfits are comparable to the outfits in shoujo idol shows.

There really aren't that many shows that do fanservice the way you mentioned, either. All service in Kemono Friends happens because of the characters' designs or other minor features (everyone has pretty thick thighs if you pay attention), it's more that Japan sees subtle lewdness as a perfectly natural thing but the West will always be this prudish part of the world that demonizes any kind of eroticism, no matter how small it is. Most otaku enjoy this kind of lewdness and they're the ones who draw all relevant art, so complaining about that sort of thing feels very dumb for me.

And anyway, if you want a more recent example than that, look forward to the next episode. The PPP outfits are lewd as fuck.
