JoJo does become an entirely different series after Stands are introduced, but Joseph is both a follow up to Jonathan and a way to twist those expectations in a fresh, new way that tends to entertain the audience

I like to believe that it's because of how Koichi more or less treats him more normally than characters like Josuke do and because Jotaro relates to Koichi somewhat.
Because everyone puts Jotaro on a pedestal because of Star Platinum but Koichi doesn't really seem to do that. He tries to approach Jotaro casually, he questions his decisions, he tries to do things his own way instead of just asking Jotaro to stop time and fix everything. Koichi has a really friendly and understanding personality that makes him a great friend. There's a dissonance between the way characters like Josuke view Jotaro (as the super cool older role model who has the strongest stand ever) and the way Koichi treats Jotaro.
And Jotaro got to personally witness Koichi grow as a Stand user and person after he was thrown into the chaotic world of Stands. Characters like Josuke or Okuyasu had their Stands at the start of the story but Koichi was just an ordinary high schooler who suddenly had to fight serial killers and stalkers. Jotaro was once in that same spot too.
And while Jotaro acts like a mentor to the Morioh kids he often tries to teach them how to fight their own battles and to be wiser, and that's more or less what Koichi's story is.

Having said that, I do feel like this is just Araki's way of reaffirming what a great guy Koichi is by having Jotaro say it (Koichi is more or less the self-insert of Part 4) and sort of closing up his character arc.
But they do have a really neat dynamic.

2: Requiems involve a major change in the stand's appearance, while KQ was the exact same
3: Requiems fully give up their original stand's powers until it wears off, and are temporary transformations, but KQ could still use normal bombs, and Kira had BTD way longer than he should have had it, were it a Requiem.

For me it's just because he's a fun, charming and all-around cool character. He's not as easy to summarize as characters like Jolyne or Johnny (whose toughness and ruthlessness are their respective main traits) but if you like him then you like him. You get to see him in a lot of different situations - he mourns his grandfather, gets picked on by bullies, is a ferocious warrior, a lazy student, a loser who gets bossed around by his mom, he likes hanging out with his friends, being a scheming troublemaker intent on getting money, etc. It's a lot easier for me to find him endearing than characters like Giorno, who has some cool fights and lines but isn't shown to have the same diversity in how he's portrayed.

I'm sorry you see him as a flat character but you're not the only one who thinks that, it's not the end of the world. Which characters do you find the best, out of curiosity?

That's pretty much it, actually.
Like, I love Part 5 and Giorno, and for a really long time I used to write plenty about it and explain in detail aspects of Giorno's character that I thought were overlooked or ignored. I used to write long posts about it. I always tried to be as calm as possible.
But after a while it just got really, really tiresome to have to retread the same debates over and over again and to get into the same arguments over and over again, and I was just gonna get called a Giornofag over and over again. I realized I wasn't gonna change the general opinion so I just stopped. I had better things to get worked up on rather than defend a manga character and part on a cantonese sock puppet forum.
I'm not excusing Giornofags, I'm just speaking from my personal experience as someone who actually does like Giorno. I feel like there is indeed that level of bitterness that comes from repeteadly trying to get people to see things the way you do and failing.

Everyone seems to forget Jotaro is an only child with only a mother at home, so would probably get bullied at school for having no dad. Also Jotaro is half-white half-asian and racism in 80s Japan especially among teenagers was high. It didn't help Holly acted like an otaku all the time, trying to fit in to Japanese culture, so Jotaro probably disliked that since it only would bring on more bullying. Since Jotaro's dad is also a famous musician, his name (atleast his last name) would be recognizable among a portion of the school and area he is from (as its not like he lives modestly he has a huge house). A combination of bullying because of his race, mom, no father figure most likely resulted in Jotaro disliking his mom, acting tough so his peers would stop attacking him, and becoming edgy to try to look cool, thus he looked for cool people in movies. Almost adopting them as a father figure, and emulating all their tendencies to try to seem cool. I don't know its just a theory I've had for a while

Main characters? I like Johnny or gappy the best, probably. Johnny because his tragic backstory and interactions with gyro make him relatable, and gappy because he has a lot of funny moments, especially early on in part 8. Also his relationship with yasuho is nice.

That's fair, but even Duwang made it fairly clear what sort of character Josuke was meant to be - somewhat silly, generally a decent person, quick-tempered etc. While the updated scans make Giorno a lot cooler, they don't fundamentally change the sort of character he is - a serious, inspiring kid who focuses everything on the mission and solving the problems at hand.

I think I might have talked with you about Part 5's themes and characters and stuff in the past, while I always liked it a great deal I'm still fairly indifferent to Giorno (sorry) but it was cool discussing it respectfully. It sucks that it cops so much shit, at least things are better now than they were a while ago in regards to part 5's popularity but I can see why people would get burned out on being told why everything they like is shit. Probably, Josuke works amazingly well for the type of story he's in, I imagine that a character like him wouldn't work as well in something like VA or SBR. Josuke (and part 4) are much more character-oriented than goal-oriented, if you're able to immerse yourself and get invested then you'll adore him, but if you prefer a more goal-focused character or story then I can see why you wouldn't be as interested.

And I think Jonathanfags recognize the flaws within Part 1 to some extent. I don't see them shut their ears and REEEE when criticized, they just argue around these criticisms. Part 1 is the part that hardly anyone talks about and hardly anyone pays attention so there isn't as much vitrol directed towards it, and so discussions tend to be more peaceful.
And I could be wrong but I feel like most Jonathanfags are just the kind of people more likely to be oldfags.

Yeah, you're right about that. Giorno's main flaw is that he's pretty static like part 3 jotaro but I think the delivery and lines of the retranslations slightly make up for that. I think he would at least go above Jotaro but his lack of development wouldn't raise him any further.

I don't think it's the first time you point out that you've talked to me before, but yeah, if you are thinking about a particular Giofag, I'm probably that guy.

I don't know if comparing Jotaro and Giorno is really fair though, because we get to see Jotaro grow and develop long after his part is over. He goes from being an edgy teenager to a respected and idolized mentor-figure, and then goes from that to being a failure of a parent whose strengths (his independence, aloofness, lack of requiring human interaction) ended up being his weaknesses when it came to his personal life and relationships. We only ever get to see Giorno for a brief moment of time (A week at absolute most) in VA, and never again after that.
