Did Kano live or die? Was that "Kano" talking to the reader?

Theory 1: He's dead and lives on through our memory; at the end we (the reader) are sitting "alone" talking to Kano.

Theory 2: He's alive, having a normal conversation at the coffee shop.

Only thing I'm confident about is that he's not talking to one of his delusions.

MC dies, since after all he managed to find meaning and purpose in his life.

The last pages were 1 a way to remind the reader how he reasoned at the start of the series 2 MC speaks to us in a 4th wall break way (after all we're not illusions, he's healed) 3 MC is the author's way to speak with us.

Very, very good story.
