No, 02 is just a mess. 02 has a lot of striking similarities to the Star Wars prequels.

We have a script written by committee, good ideas buried in trash, stilted dialogue, forced romance between near emotionless characters, a protagonist who objectively makes bad decisions and makes no attempt to appeal to the audience, blatant mishandling of characters and themes of it's predecessor, lessening and negatively impacting the story told by its predecessor through useless details and needless characters, overbearing producers who forced stupid ideas in, attempting to cash in on the merits and success of the predecessor without having inherent need to tell the story, etc. Most of all a director who was lauded as a genius but slowly was revealed to be a kook that was part of a team and wasn't actually the sole reason for the predecessors success. As the project went on the director was revealed to be lazy, had no real idea what he was doing, worked poorly with his staff, had no plans that made any sense thematically, took shortcuts in screen writing (they are in love now!), and ultimately was not only steadily rejected by the fan base for his follies but it began a steady decline in his directing career until he burned so many bridges he was no longer tied to the series anymore.

02's problems was more than that. It was one producer giving out confusing orders to the said committee, and a head director who just wasn't good at his job.

Adventure is surprisingly the opposite, it was made by a committee where no one had power over another so bad ideas could be shot down. But come 02 most of those members dropped out or moved onto bigger things, leaving the dumbasses in charge.

Tri has a pretty weak writing and I don't like how underwhelming the evolution moments are, but I really love the interactions between the characters and it's nice to see the adventure group again.
