Why wouldn't he be? Just because he gave up actual dueling doesn't mean that he's gone. This is manga canon, DM,GX and 5D's anime are the ones Kaz had the most in, with Zexal he did a few designs had no say in Arc-V and only drew a promotional image for Vrains. DM,GX and 5D's should be called the Kaz trio since they're connected in both his manga canon and the anime's canon.

Only outside the out dated disks. Through to be honest, I can't remember the big difference between the way the disks in the movie behaved compared to the GX ones and the E-nerD powered ones in 5D's. It seemed like a more modern looking version of the 2000s disk with Zexal's head set.

I wonder how much more advanced Vrains duel disks will be. Zexal duel disks folded up and could act as phones where as Arc-V ones retained the phone ability but also were powerful enough to generate hard light to play their cards on rather than physical attachments.
