I always assumed that her pride was a significant part of her mindset and decision-making process but it's cool to see it coming from the actual canon in that way.
It doesn't exactly contradict the fact that we know, she is low on the intelligence spectrum. But it certainly adds another layer to her that compliments it as part of her character.
I'm surprised to hear that she does have some sense of altruism and kindness towards others to such degree though.
