im surprised how careful they are at not showing serval's pantsu.

I think we're overlooking the possibility of the anime ending with humans just coming back to the park. Kaban can stay with the Friends as a tour guide and no one has to be torn apart. And to fit the storyline, they simultaneously reopen the game to the new audience.

Surely the anime staff realizes this is a possible ending and doesn't fuck us over because muh tragedy right?
>>
>>153829234
>humans just coming back to the park
well, if she can actually find humans that exist sure, but finding them is the problem.

also, it still doesn't solve Cerulean problem. we dont know where they come from, how many exist, or what happens when a human is consumed

>>153829396
>>153829412
That would be nice, but you guys are overlooking some pretty important things. Like >>153829335 implied, the fact that humans are apparently gone is the problem. If they do still exist (which I think they do, WHY did they leave? WHERE did they go? It certainly has something to do with the incident that Tsuchinoko mentioned, which we also need to know the details of.

And what's more, what of Kaban? Where did she come from and why did she suddenly show up in Japari Park, if no humans have been seen in the park for ages?
>>
>>153829234
First we need to ansewer somethin. Why did they left? The park is abandoned for a reason and it needs to be solved or they would already be there. You don't leave what seems like a little country full of AI and pseudo-humans if it's not for a good reason.
The Ceruleans don't even seem that though so they are not the cause unless we are only seeing the weak ones.

Tsuchinoko didn't really mention an event, she just assumed they went extinct like the owls did based on the fact that they aren't there anymore.

>>153829697
Maybe they left because Sandstar was causing weird shit to happen and they decided it was too dangerous to keep coming to the park. If that's the case, then Kaban can explain to the rest of the humans that it's still ok and fun for humans to visit the park and they can come back.

They probably analized that thing. You don't leave what probably costs more money than what japan makes in a year because a little of sparkly dust.
It mutates animals turning them into humans.
To a human maybe it gives super cancer or something if it can restructure your body and DNA to that point.

The fact that the animals know Ceruleans were often found around humans implies that they are somehow related to them, like maybe they're human constructions gone wrong or something. Anyways I think if the humans really had to they could just destroy them all and make the park safe again.

it's easy to feel sorry for the prey, but you need to realize that being a predator is extremely difficult. Prey has a higher chance of living than predators do.

You should watch "The Hunt" 2015 to get a better picture. Most predators only catch prey 60% of the time/starve.

I want to thank you people for getting me to check Kemono Friends out. I remember some random anon made a thread a while ago telling people to try it out and I was like why the hell not, it could be fun. And now it is my number one favorite this season.
It is really just incredibly charming and have very lovable characters. It can just really put you into a happy mood, I remember when I watched it first I was in a really bad mood but after just the first episode I was smiling like an idiot. It also has a genuinely good mystery which was probably the biggest surprise for me.
This is probably only just me but I really like the backgrounds, I also find the cg to blend in surprisingly very well.
I have been watching since like the last 3 episodes but I thought I thank you friends. I just love it so much it.

Well, in the game, the park closed to visitors due to the Ceruleans (although the park guide stayed there and was known to most friends, something that apparently didn't happen in the anime). They anime has also said that they appeared in places where humans were, so it sounds like they might have been specifically pursuing humans and might be more aggressive in a situation like that compared to their current state.

Although, really, in that case, the only way it'd reopen would be if they destroy the Ceruleans and it doesn't seem like the anime is going in that route. I guess they could throw in a Cerulean queen out of nowhere for the last two episodes or something, but it'd feel really cheap.

Most characters got their voice changed in the anime. Even VAs that already voiced characters in the game and still voice characters in the anime got moved to different characters.

For example, Minami Tsuda voiced a bunch of characters in the game, but not Jaguar, her role in the anime. Peacock's game VA voiced Alpaca in the anime, while they used one of the Penguin's VAs for Peacock's brief anime cameo.

The gray wolf in the upcoming episode was originally voiced by Serval's game VA,but in the anime she's going to be voiced by Kanae Ito, who voiced a bunch of other different characters in the game, like Mountain Hare and Keroro. Meanwhile, Serval's game VA is going to voice giraffe, even though she didn't voice her in the game.

For the ones who don't know it turns out that TL-kun translation is quite bad, not even google translate-tier bad, but actually wrong, with parts of the novels omitted in the translation and even with some parts of it have been completely made-up and don't appear at all in the original source. It's been a total mess.

So the general idea with regards to this show is that the imperfections in the show add to its appeal, not everything needs to be perfectly polished and well produced to be great art, infact imperfections can be central to being great art.

A lot of people find the poor CGI animation in these threads for example to charming in a strange way and like it genuinely while admitting its imperfection. That is appreciating the wabisabi aesthetic if my understanding of the concept is correct.

It almost feels nostalgic. Not too long ago we were enjoying games that had similar graphics but you think of them fondly because you were engrossed in the story and characters. Even anime back then had wonky animation but we didn't even notice.
Once you accept something as it is the little imperfections become unnoticeable and you only see the good. Anime is more than just animation, so many different things go into it that make the full picture. Everything they've done for this show has been top notch.
>>
>>153841033
Two reasons.

Firstly, everyone got lost in the elation of HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THESE FUCKING FAST AS FUCK TRANSLATIONS and didn't question it. And secondly, there was no publicly available raws

The sham came to light recently, about one month ago or so, when one anon wondered why some nips were discussing something he hadn't read on the translator translation, people thought it was odd so they started to dig a little to see what had happened, perhaps it had been an error or the translator mistakenly skipped that bit, but then the more people dug the more stuff was discovered and the rest is history.

I'm not saying it was necessarily an aim of the show to go for that although I think the cultural awareness of it probably feeds into this style of animation even being a thing. That said its not as if the creation of this show was completely devoid of any high minded concepts. The interview with the director said Mine Yoshizaki asked that attention was paid to "Ma" which is kind of like the Japanese equivalent of negative space but with more of meaning like the space which allows everything else to exist within it and gives definition to things that have substance by being empty.

I think the big "culture shock" many westerners are getting is that they realize anime is not as mature as they believe. No one in Japan really takes anime 'seriously' as one in the west would take, say, James Joyce.

They have this false idea that anime is mature, serious business, when its just cartoons.
>>
Do you fear for the future of the franchise?

For the creators of the series and the owners of the brand to lose themselves in their newfound popularity and turn the series into a shadow of it's former self to cash-in on the fad?
>>
>>153841370
But you can only learn so fast, of course at some point you'd have to challenge yourself with a novel but before that it's possible to stay in that in-between state for a long time depending on how much effort you put into learning the language.
I think a lot of people who started learning japanese primarily out of interest for the otaku culture are there. As for myself, eck I still struggle with a manga.

The owners of the brand are huge companies like KADOKAWA and Bushiroad and even Crunchyroll (nowhere near as big but mentioning it none the less), its not that important to them. The studio isn't on the production committee so won't see a huge profit from the show. They might be happy to get more work from it though and likely get more work in future from other productions if it is made clear this type of animation is a viable and cheap way to make a successful franchise and if not you don't lose much.

I'm actually happy Kemono Friends is getting panned to hell by redditors, MALfags, and crunchyroll users. This way we don't have to deal with them and the threads stay comfy. Sugoi! We truly are Friends with the most patrician of tastes.

Shush, they're catching on.
>>
>>153842667
It didn't reproduce the success of GuP but it wasn't a notably inferior anime. That's not a very good example.
>>
>>153842776
What makes me laugh the most is how so may "high" places keep trying to explain and understand why the sudden popularly and shill the series but end up failing so hard they just alienate people more. Isn't it great?

I wondered where all the other old posters went, glad they came here!
I did loads of OC for mahoiku so I can't wait to start making stuff for this when I get the chance.
>>
>>153842603
To be fair that was how Kemono Friends started to cash in on the mobile game market, but got extremely lucky to get a veteran children's show writer and a director who's worked with MMD for years to make most of a small budget for this anime

>Are Japs even as greedy as westerners about bandwagon-hopping like this anyway?

It's like you haven't noticed all the isekai bandwagoning, and the battle-harem bandwagoning that's been going on for years.

It sure is. They will never understand.
>>
>>153842856
The best way to get the series to gain traction in the west is by telling people that they're retarded for not liking it.
>>

Don't forget the fujo market

> Aye-Aye is a ninja too
Neat.

Personally, I don't want it to trend. I want sugoi threads full of tanoshii and head like happy meal references with comfy talk about the lore, not MAL reddit-tier conversations that inevitably descend into hate.

Serval-chan looks angry.

She's gonna hurt herself with those shuriken in her kneesock.

The threads are a little bit like Japari Park. We are all friends here and outsiders don't come close.
And sometimes a Cerulean pops up
>>
>>153843099
I'm more worried about threads turning into GuP "this is my waifu say something nice to her!" "which girl has best smelling feet"
>>
>>153843160
Which Friend has the best smelling fur?

yeah like that

Well, Hippo is always bathing.
>>

And trying to fight the Cerulean often ends up in more harm than there would be if we just ran away from them.
>>
>>153843219

In shit.

Are shitposters just Dung Beetle Friends?
>>
>>153843160
GuP threads are really strange and meta, with the existence of waifufagfags.

Maybe the Japari buns make shit smell like roses or her suit is waterproof. Maybe she just gets out of the water and shits behind a tree out of consideration for the other animals.
>>
>>153843160
I don't mind that, talking about the characters of a series is still talking about that series, no matter how dumb the subject may be. It's still proof that they care about at least one part of the series.
Worrying too much about trying to not become like that is what may end up ruining everything, I believe. Just embrace the tanoshii and try to have fun with your posts instead of trying to regulate too hard what others talk about, that's how /a/ should be.

Chameleon's autistic wailing was absolutely hilariously cute. Tsuchinoko's shrieks and maniacal laughter too. In fact the autistic noises in general have become very endearing to me, which is probably a bad sign for my IQ.
