What did /a/ think of this movie? I thought it was beautiful and a perfect send-off for Miyazaki. I hope he really doesn't come out of retirement because this film could not be a better end to his amazing career.
The romance shit got a bit much towards the end. Amazing technical animation as always, and the ending was nice.
I really liked all of the mouth-made sound effects. Apparently a lot of people don't. I don't understand that.

boring.

I just picked it up but haven't watched it yet. I've been on a recent Ghibli kick (Howl's Moving Castle, When Marnie Was There, Only Yesterday) and ended up pick this one, Arrietty, and Kiki for fairly cheap.

The relationship is probably what I like the most. Apart from the "wife is fatally sick" premise it feels realistic

Pretty boring, one of the better Miyazaki films. The beginning and end were the only good bits. The rest of the film is slow and boring like most Miyazaki films. It just reinforced my opinion that that Miyazaki is very overrated.
Great start and I loved the dream sequences. Dying wife drama consuming the second half ruined it.
