Yankee and Megane is one series. It ended with the female lead just disappearing out of nowhere. Then after a time skip where the MC becomes a teacher, she shows up again having not changed at all appearance wise and as a student. It was so weird people started to think that the MC was just having a mental breakdown and hallucinating her.

That ending is the reason why I was so nervous about Yamada's ending. It was following the same trend too, being unnecessarily drawn out at the end. Thankfully the author actually went for a satisfying and happy ending this time.
