It's a shame more people don't appreciate Crows. A lot of people think it's a shallow manga which is only about fighting and nothing else but it's really pretty cool in a lot of ways.

However, with the exception Kiku (which despite being only 1 volume long is almost as good as all of Crows), Hiroshi Takahashi's other works are no way near as good as good as Crows. And nothing which has ripped it off has managed to be better than it so far.

The manga is entertaining to read to get an insight into the competitive dance scene but as far as storytelling goes, it starts off pretty weak. The author has a poor grasp of what type of protagonist she wants before somewhat cementing his character in later volumes. It gets a bit hokey at times but that comes with the demographics its aimed at. All in all its a solid piece of entertainment but I wouldn't say its a 10/10.

Just finished this today and its definitely not a 10/10. Its a solid entertaining exploitative work in the vein of Go Nagai's shit but there's to many plot contrivances that annoy me and insufficient character insights for me to give two shits about them. I didn't care much for Inugami (his loneliness could have been great material for a character study) nor his classmates (they all start as pieces of shits and end like pieces of shit).

Hardly. He's socially inept because of his isolation and naivety. His social inability to speak or form relationships stems from his lack of belief in people's intentions and fear of being hurt again. So he isolates himself literally and figuratively leading to a lack of experience to form discussions and relationships appropriate for his age. I mean the most telling part was when he rescues that college student and instantly regrets his life choices. While multifaceted in its interpretation, that image merely serves to support what I wrote: his marriage to Kana serves as the beginning of the death of Mori Buntaro the loner and the birth of Mori Buntaro the man as we see in the final volume. I read a lot of delinquent manga and Crows is definitely up there for me, the only series I can say which are better than it as far as delinquent manga go are Be-Bop High School and Bakuon Rettou.
