If i remember right, last chapter they were looking for the stairs to the next floor on the 3rd floor, and couldn't find it. Until Emilia said something about the person possibly being a troublesome person and maybe made the stairs somewhere else below?

So they run back to the healing garden in the 4th floor where Rem and Ram were resting and they find the stairs to it, and the chapter ends.

If i'm understanding the backstory correctly it went something like this for Sekhmet.

She was a child who had something done to her family, and had some sort of expectation placed on her. I'm not sure if they did rituals or shit like that on her, but they considered her a failure.

She was abandoned in a field, while she was still a baby, and left to die. Normally it would be impossible for her to survive, but apparently she was already abnormal because she could live "without the techniques to live", so i'm guessing she somehow didn't need much to go on, or she somehow lived purely on instinct due to what the family did.

Time passes, she goes from a girl, to a woman and still stays in the field, but apparently finds it hard to get by as time goes on. Some man hear humors about a woman in said field, and find her, they do not kill her for they find her attractive despite her feral like composure.

She slowly starts getting exposed to "feelings and desires" and going to the field to the village where the man lived, apparently being treasured by the man, and having to do less to get by. She gets on the bed, and apparently gets what she never knew from men, and gains more things to get by. Basically selling her body i guess?

Exposed to language, knowledge and their way of life. Noticing that they all had cherished her, and treated her like a jewel, and apparently came to embrace the feeling, not noticing at the time it was something like obligation or appreciation.

Suddenly she snaps the neck of all the man inside the building, without pain or nothing, instant death, and she buries them.

After that she heads for the village of her family, and when she thinks about those of the same blood as her, she does not notice the feelings she has are those of pure hatred and desire for revenge. The voice pleads for her to not kill them, and it was painful to listen to, but instead of pity, she laughs.

She breaks them slowly and painfully, carefully.

She them left their family's body to rot, and returned to the place where she was with the man previously. She had left her family's body to rot, and politely buried the man.

She takes a long deep breath in the residential area of the place, and for the first time her life, she was happy. There was peace and silence.

She decides that she will not disturb anyone any longer, and decides to simply fall asleep. To act and to think are useless actions, and she falls asleep.

The witch of sloth them continues to prolong her peace of mind, and endlessly continues to this state of nothing.

My summary of the Sekhmet story is probably really weak, but one thing i noticed from google, is that, it seems that she was never aware of the feelings she was experiencing. Either she was too lazy to bother, or she was too ignorant of human emotions to know.

So what if, Sloth has an adverse effect on it's users like Pete and Subaru, because they display emotions and thoughts, and such, but Sekhmet is not attacked by pain or anything because she's extremely complacent about everything? Could just be coincidence really. Plus we don't really know if Pete did feel the same pain Subaru feels.

Sehkmet is born to a family and race which have pulled some serious shit to try and fulfill their wish, the second coming of their glorious and honourable ancestors, who were called gods. Sehkmet's birth betrays this wish (she wasn't what they were looking for I suppose) and they abandon her out in the wild in disgust.
She manages to scrape by by living in the wild like an animal. Eventually some men hear about her and go to kill her, but she's hot and they take her home to their village instead. The implication is they keep her in bed and treat her as a kind of courtesan (over this period she starts picking up language and knowledge and etc)
She kills the men, then goes back to her hometown and slaughters everyone there. She goes back to the men's village where she settles down in peace and quiet, not having to think about anything or do anything.

Subaru and co tomfoolery and banter about CLIMBING STAIRS. It's seriously just run of the mill character funny banter times stop freaking the fuck out about it.

He gets lecherous about the women and generally speaks abusively. Shaula faints in terror while begging Subaru for help. Julius steps up to try and talk with Reid but Reid blows him off by mentioning that his annoying as shit speech pattern/attitude reminds him of his 子分 and this is how he proceeds to refer to Julius. Yes, his hand works about the same way Satella's do, which are intangible to things they don't want to touch. Reid fought her when she had 2,000 of those.

Finally got a chance to read the chapter.
Some (mostly unimportant parts) that didn't get mentioned already.

1) Sekhmet mentions that her "clan" consists of people who had "significantly larger bodies than her" when she returns to kill them all. Was she born to a race of giants or something?

Also her backstory was cool, and the best part is, just like with the other backstories this arc, you don't find out who it's about until the very last line (it just refers to her as "the woman" or "she/her") so it was actually kind of a shock to read it all and find out it's about fucking Sekhmet of all people.

2) When Subaru and co. find the massive staircase to the 2nd layer, he gets surprised that they somehow all missed this thing. But Emilia and Beatrice point out that when Subaru was unconscious/sleeping (when they first arrived at the tower) and the rest of them were deciding where to put all their luggage and shit, everyone seemed to unconsciously just avoid this room. So they conclude there must be some recongition inhibition magic shit at work.

3) There's this part where Subaru thinks that although the trials are using knowledge from his world. he might be screwed if the topic is something he doesn't know like ドイツの歴史 (German history). Flugel confirmed Hitler

I don't recall any mention of Emilia or anyone else reading her book, although I might be misremembering. It's possible that they could have been read offscreen by someone in between chapter 23/24 or something.

Incidentally, I was making summary of Sekhmet's backstory for a friend and ended up sort of translating most of it. And now I've ended up doing the rest of it too because why not.

I don't consider myself particularly good at translating (compared to others here), but if someone reaaally wants to read it and can't wait for a 'proper' translator, I could post it here when I'm done.
