The edgy universe final contestant may insist on avenging his comrades or Zeno might say it's boring if they win without everyone fighting, or both.

When he fused with nail he was a being whose existence was half of a whole, this may have been necessary in the process, we don't know. Manga is less depressing. In the anime the last bits of humanity put 100% faith in Trunks to save the day, by sheer faith they create a spirit bomb/sword, and then they all die so the prayers were for nothing. At the end of Z though during the fight Vegeta admits Goku is humanity's champion.
Granted, since then, he's accessed a gate-way to a new level of power in which he can keep up with Goku, so he's back in the running, more-or-less. But he should still carry that over and be man enough to ask to learn where Goku learned the move that lets him tenfold his fighting strength.

The problem here is that SSG->SSB might be a bigger gap than KKx10 unless its a SSJ2->SSJ3 level difference (x4)
