There's a Sega mobage called Chain Chronicle I play a lot.. it looks vaguely similar in basic structure (long VN cutscenes for meeting new characters, leading to generic line-defense battle sequences). Even though I play this game though, for some reason I don't like 9/10ths of the characters, just because their designs aren't really appealing to me. They hire lot of random different pixiv artists to design characters and most of them are way overdone and the style just doesn't fit with me.

Looking at images of the Kemono Friends game, I like their designs way, way more, so if the KF game was even a third as playable as Chain Chronicle, I probably would have loved it much much more just for actually finding the characters and cutscene text interesting.

Then it might have been a design intended for the Kamchatka Brown bear (Ursus arctos beringianus) that didn't make it to the game (or at least I haven't found it yet). The Bergman Bear (Ursus arctos piscator) is a curiosity in that it's not a verified species (there's been only a curious hide, pugmarks and a number of local reports). Similar case with the Maltese Tiger specimen (a number of reports on different regions, some even secular and a whole book dedicated to it).

Extremely elusive specimens or species, that may as well be considered cryptids. I find it really interesting that the artist has managed to not only find these subspecies/specimens on his research, but found them interesting to include on the game, and it's been seemingly followed with the anime.

Not like the game will be unable to hold my interest just on virtue of it being a mobage; I "game" on mobage nearly exclusively in the first place and have been for like the past 4-5 years. If the issue is the gameplay being mediocre/bad, I've been playing pretty mediocre stuff like SB69 daily for over a year now just because I love some of the characters. I don't think I'd have an issue doing the same with Kemono. If there are people that can play and enjoy FGO, I'm sure there are people who can do the same for Kemono.

Even if I do get bored of it within a month (which you won't know unless I actually get to try), that's probably at least a week or two of very solid enjoyment collecting, interacting, and playing with Friends.
