ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. is exactly the sort of stylish, smart programming that I associate with the very best of BBC drama--both the storytelling and the lead are reserved yet quietly, intensely engaging. Dowa is a kingdom run more like a corporation, with thirteen autonomous states ruled by a single monarch but actually managed through a civilian-controlled agency with quasi-governmental powers, ACCA. Charged with ferreting out corruption within their parent agency (which oversees, amongst other things, emergency services), inspectors comb through records in search of anomalies, mistakes, or falsification. Jean Otus, our protagonist, is the second-in-command of ACCA's Inspection Department, and it is a real treat to watch him navigate dangerous political waters while still fulfilling his duties. He might seem absent-minded with personal matters, but he's got a keen eye for detail and sharp business savvy--imagine a younger, cleaned-up Columbo (wow, really dated myself!). Anyway, I'll have the last laugh when Helen Mirren turns up in a guest role. . .it's that sharp, that good!

ACCA have slow pace, it cannot be helped.
But there are beautifully drawn food, good character design, fashionable, interesting world setting, overall this show is pretty comfy.
I think the whole kuudeta thing is just to keep the wheel turning or maybe it doesn't matter at all.

Combines the "country of the week" feel of Kino no Tabi with a well developed overarching plot focused on political intrigue. Also, the music is absolutely phenomenal. It may be a bit slow-paced for some folks, but your patience will absolutely pay off.

With its mature and realistic artsyle, political themes, suspenseful mystery, cunning protagonist, and a nostalgic atmosphere that somewhat strikes a balance between 1920's America and George Orwell's 1984, ACCA provides a breath fresh air that quells what can be described as a dry spell of underwhelming variety.

The anime covers topics regarding the ins and outs of geopolitics and relevant phenomenon such as peacekeeping and corruption. The plot is unfolded through the clandestine interactions between figureheads of political power, and this anime does a commendable job of utilizing its premise to deliver suspense to the viewer.

The protagonist, Jean Otus, is portrayed as mysterious, clever, cool-headed, and obscured. He gives off a James Bond vibe (without the guns and sex, of course). His motivations seem to be shrouded due to his personality, and as a result you're always wondering what he's going to pull of next.

Of course, I've only seen 3 episodes so 5 stars is out of the question. However, this anime has caught the attention of even a picky and niche viewer such as I, and highly look forward to it.

This is the story of a chain-smoking bureaucrat, whose division in the ACCA, the administrative controller of the provinces is being dissolved. He picks up some minor corruption in one of his offices and his division is given a reprieve. Really riveting plot, eh? You got it, it's boring. And, I don't know how anyone could like the main character. He's obsessive, needle-nosed dilatant, that is always smoking at a time that no one smokes because of the expense. I guess the Japanese think it's still cool to smoke ("Whimsically puffing his cigarettes", my ass). I do like the style of the drawing and the animation is good, that's the only reason I'd give it 2 stars. It's painfully obvious that "Jean the Cigarette Peddler" is being set up as a cool sleuth type of character. He, however, comes across as an officious, chain smoking bureaucrat, not cool at all. We'll see if the writers can rescue this one, so far I'd rather watch paint dry.

Acca is really different from what you would expect on a season, but being something different doesn't mean it will be a Masterpiece, so if you are tired of the same generic garbage we get on a season, this show might be your best choice, I cannot guarantee that you will like this, but you know, sometimes something different is good pretty often

since ep 1 we knew that this show will be a SOL with bureaucracy and a taint of politic drama. There was no drama nor heavy atmosphere.

This isn't a show for smart people, this is a show for chill people. This isn't going to get better, this is just a calm ride in a stright road, not a roller coaster.
