It started awful, then got decent to good at around the half way mark, then was great for the second half until the ending, which was okay as a standalone but rather terrible given the events that went on before it.

Either you learn to live with the ending but accept that most of the show was pretty damn good, OR you let the ending ruin it for you (which is a perfectly legit thing) OR you let the ending ruin it for you AND you autistically claim the good parts were bad just because the ending was bad because your autist brain can't accept that a show can have both good and bad episodes. It has to be either all good or all bad for you.

If you're someone for whom a bad ending can ruin a whole show for you, then you should avoid Mai Hime. Seriously, it's a perfectly legitimate response, but if you know that you're the type where endings matter, then spoiler alert, chances are, this show won't be for you.

I loved it, now it makes me think of the good old days. I like the characters, the music, story, and the manga. The sequels were little strange like Mai-Otome and Mai-Hime Destiny was meh.
