Sucy's mom think Luna Nova isn't the right place for Sucy, and is wasting her life there because the school is closing anyway because of lack of fands. Sucy wants to stay, and through Akko and Lotte's antics discover how fun and yay the school can be when they are around and not bogged down in old traditions in rituals. Sucy learns to appreciate Akko and Lotte more as friends but still likes trolling them because they are just that fun.

Meanwhile, Diana does something super awesome in a perfect way that is expected of a good witch and the school focuses on that while Sucy and friends does their antics.

I admit I started thinking about it the moment Ursula commented on the Rod (her eyes were shown that moment, made the connection even clearer)

Plus don't forget the OVA started as a stand-alone story. Showing Chariot at the start, cramming every piece of information into that 20 minute OVA then dropping that plot point when they weren't supposed to continue is just a waste of time. Notice how quickly they go over plot points trying to establish things as quick and clear as possible in the OVA.

Either way I thought they were very clear with it, they're pushing it even harder with the TV series with all those camera pans and shots of Ursula every time Chariot is being mentioned.

Just watched the episode.
I guess for someone who started out as a normal human, Akkos improving quite well isn´t she?
Kinda frustrating to see her still not being able to ride a broom though.

Lotte is an expert in white magic, that is good to know. Now it is easier to imagine what to expect from her in the future.

Sucy came pretty short this episode for being a part of the main trio, but I liked the scene where she basically calls Akko "an absolute madwoman" for almost killing the teacher.

That part with the "magic law" class was really interesting, some nice world building going on here. Just like with introducing "white magic".

She can seem too perfect at times, but she isn't calling Akko an idiot and telling her to drop out. In fact, she seems to have a little respect for Akko, and she acknowledges her because she can see within Akko herself when she was younger. She probably strives to be a "proper" witch so much for the same reason she stopped liking Shiny Chariot. Maybe something happened when she was younger that made her think that liking Chariot was wrong and that she had to give up her childish beliefs to be a real witch.

The faculty is on the same page as Diana, but the point of the show is to change the status quo.

It's amplified here, but a fair amount of people seem do just dislike how perfect she seems to be, and that even when she messes up, there's no real comeuppance.

I actually preferred her in the OVA, since, even though she was way more of a snobby bitch, her pridefully opening up the iron maiden and releasing the dragon gave her a much deserved ego check, and we could see that very clearly. Compare that to the butterfly incident in the show, it seems like she feels bad for Akko towards the end of the episode, but next time we see her she's back acting like a snobbish mother hen.

As it is, we'll just have to wait through her character arc to see how she'll change, but as it is, she's just kind of one dimensional.

But we'll have to wait and see what happens when someone does it in the show.
