Way far. They give way more focus on Sakie because the director is a succubus fetishist or something and a lot of the girls' characters get overridden by "TETSU IS AN AWESOME TEACHER" when in the manga, a lot of the actions that he's credited for in the anime, is done by the girls themselves. The anime is the equivalent of boiling bokchoy for too long. They lost all the flavor trying to cook all the moe elements into it.

It introduced the best girl of the season, Hikari, so it can't be all bad.

The anime is being very faithful to the manga. This is a decision by the director, and if it continues, it will be bad. There are chapters in the manga that are info dumps on dullahan quantum physics that may be interesting to otaku craving world-building, but for ordinary audience members who want to see characters interact (the anime's strength) it will be insanely boring.
