There is something I dont understand in the third mansion loop, Rem was the one who tried to kill subaru and later tortured him in the forest, but the light novel gives the feeling that it was Ram who destroyed his neck with wind magic to give him a fast death out of pity, I just dont understand why Rem lied and said Ram had no idea she was trying to kill subaru, was Ram feeling guilty over trying to kill subaru in that loop because subaru became almost an friend? It's an alright isekai fantasy harem.
Nothing much new outside of MC's cheat/gimmick. Nothing special either waifu-wise.

I'd rather have it played straight a la El Hazard or Tenchi Muyo, but that's just the 90's neckbeard in me missing the past.

He's one of the most predictable and forced characters I have seen in awhile. Kind of ironic that the villain of arc 2 is the reason that the main villain of the story is not mantling his role or is the catalyst for slowing down the process at least.

It is cliche that the "power of love" is what is causing the bad guy to try and become a good guy while also retaining or trying to overcome his bad guy features but still entertaining nonetheless. Just finished episode 18, and holy fuck. I'm glad Subaru got through that little despair episode without hollowing out, but has any character been cucked as hard as Rem in the history of Anime?

Well, it's clear he has a great deal of affection for Rem, even if it's not in the way she wants.

He doesn't ignore her feelings for him (or just straight up fail to notice them like most other braindead MCs), and as much as it must still suck, he didn't wimp out of giving her some kind of closure. It's why I actually really like this series so far. The whole third arc so far has really put him through the ringer, but Subaru isn't the kind of worthless, do-nothing dipshit that many protags can be in this genre. He actually has initiative and charisma, and while most of his victories involve fucking up three or four times and starting over with meta-game knowledge, in the end he gets shit done.

I was really worried that, based on his NEET lifestyle and general appearance, Subaru would make this series a chore by being generally garbage And the early part of the 3rd arc was something of a slog for that reason, along with the fucking stupidity that is the Royal Selection and all its major players, but I digress. I'm happily mistaken.

There are few stakes regarding his primary goal, though he can end up overlooking things. However, something happening when he isn't there really isn't much of a stake. The true stakes are more about the accumulated wear and tear, and what kind of person he'll become.

The more he dies, the more attuned he gets to Witch shit. Which is both good and bad. He's also able to take the Sin powers from Bishops, but those eat away at his soul/sanity when he uses them. The effects have also started to make actual progress.

You're going to need to read the scenes the anime cut or changed. That actually goes for most of your complaints. The show had to rush through a lot of Arc 3, so it leaves out a lot of foreshadowing for later developments, hints at greater mysteries, most the speech the candidates give, and various scenes which add to characterization.

It's times like these I wish I could read LNs. The combination of iffy translators and the inherent weirdness of japanese to english means that it always feels like somethings being lost in translation. I couldn't get very far in Youjo Senki or Overlord but I guess those are both translated by the same group so maybe they just suck?

Anyhow, this here was one of the scenes the anime changed, in a way that significantly distorts both Rem and Subaru's personalities. Let's just say that Rem's got a lot more mischief and cunning in the original works, and isn't a hypocrite who ignores her own advice when telling someone not to give up.

When he remembers the handhold he understands that Rem and Ram are actually good people and he jumps of the cliff. In the last loop he learns from Beatrice that he smells like Satan and that Rem could sense it. Then he understood that by forcing the "plot flags" he was incredibly suspicious and that they killed him in their duty of protecting the manor.

He even addresses the issue talking to Rem when they enter the forest to save the kids
