Everything past ep 33 of the 2003 series is completely different in the manga. A ton of details are different before then too.

I'm a bit envious of you, I wish I could be reading FMA for the first time right now.

Yeah the mining town and train scenes feel really early yet I don't know why since I haven't watched the anime in a long time, also the glasses guy and female alchemist were completely mising.
