I finally watched it. I got emotional once but didn't actually cry (and I once cried watching Pirates of the caribbean, just sayin').
Plot overall is good, slow at the beginning. There are some major inconsistencies and plot holes which I can't ignore and that cannot make me love this movie as much as I would.
MCs are boring. Best charatcers are the sexy senpai and the megane guy.

I felt the opposite. They spent the entire movie going up and down, and then at the very last minute they started to peak and cut. Credits.

Its like an emotional roller coaster that just leaves you at the top of the final hill. Thats it, there is no getting that last bit.

I was sure we were going to get a bad end. Now I've never seen Shinkai's other films, so apparently that's a thing?

The fact that I was sure, repeatedly, that things were going to end badly had me both riveted to my seat and ecstatic when they found each other again.

I loved it. It was beautiful and I enjoyed the soundtrack, the actors, the characters, and the plot. I make no apologies.

How the fuck did Mitsuha pull off the Diplo check without Taki anyway?

Talk is a cuckold. He could have scored a 10/10 girl but he ended up wasting three years of his life looking for some Hiroshima survivor. Makoto Shinkai has done nothing but let me down for the last five years and I'm sure he'll be the one to let me down into my grave one last time. What was the point of having Mitsuha cut her hair? She went from a 5/10 to a 2.5/10 because she cut her hair in half. I bet his bro with the glasses is totally banging that chick, he's in there and he won't come out. Taki not only got cucked out of a relationship, he can't even find a job so he does it for free. Does Shinkai think this is good writing? He watered down his work to appeal to a more liberal audience and it shows in the movie.
