I watched it and it was great. Solid 8/10. Amazing fight scenes, some fun moments, bit of nostalgia, and yes tons of Kirito-Asuna romance. I also happen to like the new characters, Eiji and Yuna, more than I expected. Personally the best moment was when Asuna uses Yuuki's sword skill and flies with her. Alicization at the start was sort of his attempt to break the trend of Kirito x new girl with him making Kirito's new partner for the arc Eugeo. It helped him a bit, but ended up not working out. Which is the point he kind of gave up on pretending that Kirito didn't have a defacto harem even if he hadn't really been writing it as one intentionally.

By this point he has done that. Sinon could qualify easily enough if you want her to. Yuuki was interested in Asuna, not Kirito. Progressive has given us Argo who's been the most successful at being a girl regularly interacting with Kirito who doesn't want to screw him. Various secondary female characters exist who don't want to fuck Kirito, either because they want to fuck someone else, or just they aren't interested in Kirito and their love life is entirely irrelevant to the story.

But it's too late. Miki was his editor for a long time, and clearly favors harem stories. The makers of the SAO games clearly favor a harem. If they could have their way, the games would feature multiple endings where you picked who Kirito hooked up with, or at the very least Kirito would and could bang every girl he can bring to his room. A portion of his fanbase wants a harem.

So between the three, he's pretty much stuck with it. Even if he tries to downplay it, or not add more girls lusting after Kirito, it's going to happen due to external pressure.
