I like gloomy things, but this...
Flognarde, of course.
This always looked like a great place to visit.
The Town from Kiki's Delivery Service.
>>153584571
Only acceptable choice or pic related.
>>153585971
Pretty much any town featured in a Ghibli movie is comfy as fuck...with a few exceptions like grave of the fireflies
>>153584571
>wanting to be confined to a relatively small town by massive walls with no memories
ok kid
I want to live here so badly
>>153587599
The heart wants what the heart wants, motherfucker.
>>153587634
the town IS comfey, but I get a bad vibe about it all
Amestris from Fullmetal Alchemist
seems comfy af when genocidal wars aren't happening
>>153587165
>>153584571
>>153584407
Stop reading my mind, you fucks.
Before any smartass mentions it, yes, I know its modelled after a real place. But no real place could ever be quite as relaxed and comfy as the town in the show.
>>153587499
dumb frogposter
>>153588195
Why are you so hostile :(
Toyosato, Cuenca and the town Non Non Biyori takes place at.
Hinamizawa seems like a nice place to visit during the summer.
>>153584421
I miss it already
>>153588020
Lots of places in anime are modeled after real places.

>>153583972
Actually I already got to live here.Oh god I want to go back so bad I'm dying inside.
Takehara seems comfy enough.
>>153584421
>Constant battles that are not cases of genocide, but rather fun tournaments where if i Swing a big ass sword at someone, at worst he will be a fluffball for awhile

the country is nice but I like huge dense cities
>>153589123

There are billions of people in heaven. Everyone who died not knowing what Christianity was is in heaven.

Well the OP pic is from NNB, which is based on a real place, or at least the school is
>>153589643
I agree 100%
>>153589487

I really need to go to Cuenca. It's only a few hours from my place (well, I have to take a plane).
Also, Neo Venezia.
>>153583972
I'm actually going to mine this summer.
I'll let you know how long it takes before i start bashing heads and clawing at my throat once I leave.
>>153583972
I preferably want to go before i die. Hard to enjoy it when dead.
>>153590782
I've been twice so far and recommend it fully especially since you live so close. I was lucky it was near my holiday home which was a nice surprise.
>>153583972
Source?
>>153587602
This as well.
Might also wantpre-meteorItomori, though.
>>153590786
During the summer, the village is filled with noisy, overweight weeaboo tourists with colored hair and headbands.
Have fun.
>>153590887
So about 3 seconds then
>>153590887
Are there really that many foreigners traveling to a rural Japanese village because of NNB?
>>153590868
>Source?
Reverse image search.
>>153590941
Thought you meant Shirakawa village since you posted a Higurashi image.
Never been to the NNB place, but every single anime-related landmark is filled with dozens of chinks and loud European weeaboos, so don't get your hopes up.
>>153591007
Okay...
Thought it could be some Ghibli or Shinkai film, though.
>>153591131
Read the global rules.
Nocis in Turn A Gundam looks comfy so far
>>153591129
Sorry, I glanced over the post you were responding to and just saw it was responding to OP, that was my mistake. The Higurashi village makes more sense.
>>153591129
I went to Shirakawago last year, didn't realized it's from Higurashi.
>>153591572
What's it like? I'm planning on going this June when I visit Japan for the first time.
>>153584058
>a city of any kind
>comfy
No.
>>153590833
I will. From my place to Madrid it's really cheap, and then take a bus to Cuenca. I want to spend 1-2 days there. Even if it's small, I want to visit the Sora No Woto places.
Also, probably my next destiny is Venecia or Izu, from Amanchu!.
>>153585971
You could go live in Montecarlo.
Tokyo 3, so that I can find Asuka and marry her.
>>153583972
>>153589690
Drooling on my chin, this urge it will not yield...
>>153591651
not that anon you asked but I've been there several times. always during summer. a few years ago it was nice. however you had quite a lot of japanese tourists on the main street during the day.
last summer it was horrible. westerners everywhere. the hospital is gone they build a parking lot. the school(which is about 30km to the south) is gone for years.
If you want to go then hurry who knows what will happen to this place in the next couple of years.
the pic is from 2011
>>153591651
For a small visit it's okay. It's only the view from the small mountain (where I took the photo) and the village, though. I spent there half a day. The owner of the hostel told me that in winter is a lot better.
Also, if you are interested, go to Takehara, from Tamayura. It's a little far from Onomichi/Hiroshima, though. It was one of my favourites places.
>>153591672
A bunch of anons went this summer and I met up with them while using it as a stop over since I enjoyed it a lot last time I was there. Everything is really cheap and you won't need much money. I was fine with just 100 euros. You could probably cover a lot of the more popular locations in a single day but if you really want to check off everything I'd suggest staying longer. The old town is really nice.
>>153587165
Cuenca is wonderful. Been there in 2010. From Madrid it takes about three hours by train to get there. Accommodations are affordable. You can enjoy long walks through the city and the surrounding countryside. The base that is used by the girls in the show was a monastery back in the days and is a hotel now. Just act like you are a guest and you can sneak in. They have a nice restaurant where you can enjoy some good spanish ham and wine.
fantasy australia
Does this count? Granblue's world was breathtakingly beautiful.
>>153592280
I've been twice so far and still haven't managed to get inside the Parador. I think some of the anons who went in the summer I met up with also had difficulty getting in but yeah, the food and drink there is pretty good.
>>153583972
That's just a rural area. Depending on what country you live, you can go visit something similar right now.
>>153589395
Good taste. Mushishi has some of the comfiest backgrounds in anime.
>>153583972
>>153587165
>>153592280
Fuck yis reading my mind, my dudes
A shopping arcade filled with people who know you and look out for you.
>>153593015
Which job would you take? I want to make mochi with Tamako's family.
>>153592879
That gorge is a lot higher up than it looks and apparently several people have jumped from it. Still quite a nice bridge to cross.
>>153593015
>Tried mochi because of Tamako Market
>It wasn't as wonderful as Tamako made it out to be
Maybe because I had store bought mochi and not traditional mochi like how it is featured in the series but I was disappointed. It's something I'd definitely have again I just wouldn't go out of the way for it.
>>153590210
I want toCUMin Cocona's room!~~
>>153593070
I'd just run a comfy book shop with Shiori
>>153593070
I would pound mochi in Tamako's bowl with my mortar!
>>153592720
Why?
>>153593070
Probably the coffee/discography storeowner. Just listen to music all day and enjoy life.
I went to Onomichi.
It kind of smelled funny but I really liked it.
>>153592568
>That's just a rural area.
>just
Never use that word to describe something actual. Your life will improve, and so will that of those around you.
>>153591958
Is Rika's house still there?
>>153593175
>>153593272
>book store and music/coffee shop
Those would also be really great. I love how everyone is so happy and good to each other. It's the way things ought to be.
>>153593213
It's a cozy small town surrounded by cute bird girls/angels
>>153593644
That killed themselves or died a traumatic death
>>153593377
The houses of all the characters are thankfully still there, yes.
The demolition of the hospital happened in 2016 it seemed. the construction of the parking lot that is now there instead looked like it was just finished in the summer of 2016.
I personally never saw the school. It was some office for forestry as far as i know. they also demolished that building (probably in the early 2010s) and build a new building instead.
However just a few meters from that place you can find the red bridge that you can see several times in the show an VN. The question is if its worth to get there just for that. Back then we borrowed two bicycles and had a tour of roughly 60km(30km there and 30km back again). Since the streets go up and down and it was during summer it was exhausting as fuck. And in the end we didn't get what we wanted. The countryside is beautiful though.
pic shows the hospital
>>153584523
What it actually looks like
>>153593717
>That killed themselves or died a traumatic death
No they just died
Rakka fell down a well
Nemu died in her sleep
Kuu fell
Rekki is the only one that seemed to really die horribly and maybe suicide as she came with black wings
>>153590782
I went to Venice recently. It's beautiful but tourists need to die.
>>153593804
Please don't ruin my vision of Kamogawa before I get there.
>>153593807
>You'll never snuggle with Nemu and read books for all eternity
It's not fair.
Also who the hell falls down wells in this day and age? I'm pretty sure it was implied Rekki jumped in front of a train. I need to watch this again.
>>153593402
Realistic look
>>153593807
>No they just died
No, Rakka and Rekki both killed themselves. There's no reason for Rakka to be more angsty than the others, other than suicide.
>Nemu died in her sleep
>Kuu fell
Yeah and Kana drowned and Hikari probably died in a fire. Not horrific at all.
>maybe suicide
The last episode is pretty direct with what happened: she was like 12, ran away from home, was walking down a path when she heard a train coming, and intentionally stood in the path of the train. Rakka's suicide is just dealt with differently, but it happened. She didn't fall, Kuu fell, she jumped and did it in front of somebody very close to her.
>>153593999
Haibane Renmei is heavily inspired by Murakami's books, and he has a hard on for people having life changing moments at the bottom of wells.
I think Rakka wanted to commit suicide by jumping into a well, someone tried to stop her but she died anyway. Though it's been a while since I watched it too.
>>153594170
That explains why Rakka and Rekki grew so close with one another considering they died similarly. I think you're referring to Hard Boiled? It's been years since I read it but I read it because of how much it supposedly influenced Haibane and you can definitely see points here and there.
>>153594235
Yeah, Hard Boiled.
I think Wind-Up Bird is the one that's all about wells.
>>153594170
The well was just symbolism. Imagine seeing somebody you care about jump off a building, and at the bottom seeing their mangled body. That's what the well is, when she fell in she saw the dead body of the crow. She didn't die in a well, she fell much further because the fall in her dream was much further.
>>153594126
Rakka seemed to be more that she was on a well and fell in her father appearently tried to catch her and died as well, the crow in the well.
The black wings are just inability to trust or open up to people thus becoming self destructive which Rakka did after Kuu.
In Rekki's dream she's terrified and stuck implying that she could just be stuck on the tracks but Nemu does say Rekki could never open up to people so doing so was her saving grace. but yeah Rekki was suicide.
but there is no reason to think Rakka was a suicide
>>153594297
I really disagree. The reason why Rakka was better off then Rekki is because of whoever died with her, or was somehow visiting her from the outside as a crow, could consolidate with her.
>>153589716
And your random rattata encounters every few feet. Long grass? No thanks.
So many medieval-town type settings ITT. What is it about that kind of setting that's so appealing and comfy?
>>153594588
great arc.
Now i want to read it again.
>>153594588

>>153594123

I'm not asking for that much, right?
>>153594588

Countryside is the best.
>>153593858
But anon, you literally are the tourist!
>>153595960

>>153596106
Anon, please. I'm a pilgrim.
Anons who have already gone to Japanese landmarks featured in anime, what was your experience there?
>>153596375
Felt like a pilgrim.
Academy city
>>153596375
I went to Shirakawa-go, but I haven't watched Higurashi, so I don't know what to look for.
On the way to Shirakawa-go was Takayama. Found out Hyouka is set there when I saw the characters in official tourism posters. Haven't seen the anime yet, so I also don't know what to look for.
>>153597078
>hyouka in official tourism posters
this kills me
>>153597186
I do remember news about KyoAni saving the tourism industry.
>All these anons wishing for cozy countryside life
I always have mixed feeling about that
While you're surrounded by the beauty of nature and night sky without light pollution is the small miracle of universe there's fuck all to do beside staring at things. Nice place for holiday retreat, or retirement but not exactly suited for chasing dreams and all that youth spirit stuff, or even just doing stuff
Might just be the case of the grass being greener though
>t. anon born and raised in literal middle of nowhere
>>153591227
They prohibit thread making for the purpose of requests, not asking for source for something within the thread, don't they?
>>153597716
>beside staring at things
But that's what I do everyday. I stare off and think about things and nature is the best place to do that in.
I get what you're saying but I'd rather comfy country life than stressful concrete jungle life.

You've already missed the golden age. There are brown and white people all over Japland now unless you go to a genuinely obscure area with zero English text as translations for their signs etc. As long as you don't talk to any brown people you'll be fine; Nigerians and Arabs are notorious for committing the most foreigner crimes.

It's only a couple OVAs, but they're pretty good. The soundtrack is by Choro Club, who you may know as the ones responsible for ARIA's music, and in my opinion it's some of their best work.
