Because no budget, this studio has something like 10 people working at it. I doubt this show will cost them more than 250k to produce, can't make a 12 ep anime with traditional animation for that.
Let's speculate, /a/.
What if Mirai the Park Guide is Kaban-chan's
future self and the anime is a prequel to the game all along? They even share the same VA.
Does she like creampies?
Yeah she could use one of these.
kemono friends is the only things that heal my soul
'Paca-tan' actually had a screentime here, this show is the best.
It would explain why the ending had abandoned amusement parks. They tried to control the Sandstar and failed, causing the volcano eruption and creation of the Ceruleans. They abandoned it and placed a No-Fly Zone over it and left it for decades.
Now Kaban-chan will help the Friends fix up the park and get a message off the (presumed) island to contact civilization. In the future she is then Mirai (which means future) who is the main guide to the park for everyone to enjoy it with the Friends.
I think the game and the anime are different canon. If they're linked then maybe Bag is a relative of Mirai but I doubt it.
That's just a bun with cream inside, anon. Here's a real creampie.
It's such a catchy and upbeat OP. Really makes me happy every time I hear it.
What if they are all dead? What if this is actually Heaven?
Boss is God, ceruleans are angels that transport human and animal souls between their personal paradises.
This one is made in the form of a safari park and designed for the souls of wild animals and adventurous little girls.
There are extinct animals and even mythical creatures born from the human collective unconscious.
They don't need to think about getting food, they can fall from tremendous heights and still be alive and well, they are just having たのしーい with friends all day every day.
In the final episode, when Kaban-chan finishes her spiritual quest, she will leave the Japari Park and reincarnate. Serval will reincarnate as her cat. Beaver and Prairie Dog will be expelled from paradise for being homos.
Some of it looks pretty interesting.
This essentially says he wasn't requested to make designs for a specific purpose like a game or anime but was requested to make a new IP if I interpret it right?
Shoebill seems like she's by far the most popular girl from the latest episode.
I kinda with the others would get a bit more attention.
I want to fuck this otter
It's almost crazy how much the Japanese love it.
How are the PP Penguins so SS-tier Sexy?
why are they over feeding our cheetah friends /a/!?
How are the preorders for this show doing anyways? It would be even weirder if I got super popular out of nowhere but was still selling like shit.
It's doing good in the books section on Amazon.
I have no idea how it will sell though. The Amazon Stalker only tracks the DVD/BD section.
Depends what they'll do after the library episode
Nico Nico Paid Plays
Episode 2 - 26094
Episode 3 - 24900
Episode 4 - 20863
Episode 5 - 15062
Total - 86919
In comparison Youjo Senki has 37420 over its first 5 episodes although 5 was only just released yesterday.
Since there are extincted animals and cryptid friends, where are the youkai friends?
The game had a couple (Kyubi, Orochi, 4 guardian beasts) and they were included in a recent promo image. I doubt they'll appear in the anime unless it's in the finale or something though since they seem too big for random encounters..
>tfw I can read and understand sugoi, tanoshii, and jiiiii in Japanese at a glance now
Now only is this show teaching me about animals, it's teaching me Japanese.
She must be helping that duck, then.
I want an Ibis Friend. Can't get enough of those legs.
>What safari animals do when they think you aren't looking
>You see a wet beaver near a lake
Wat do, /a/?
Back away slowly, I don't want to be buried alive.
>not a single Porcupine image
This is not okay.
It's cute. Everyone helps each other out and it's heartwarming to see a show like this in recent times.
Also the setting appears to be some kind of post-apocalypse, so that's interesting.
It didn't catched my eye at the start of the season, it looked like a kid-show (the CGI didn't help eather), but it got popular, and I wanted to know why and maybe watch it when it ends.
Low quality cgi works better for this kind of show. It's just like Toho and Ship girls. The original art is so shitty that people want to draw their own art.
Sugo~i! You're a märchen Friend!
It can't be helped, every artist who loved her is now in a coma because of her cute desuuus.
People don't get bothered by CGI. Only wannabe-hipsters who fell for the sakuga-meme by a tiny circlejerk talking about it all the time in their hugbox would get offended by it.
It has nothing to do with "the sakuga-meme" all the sakuga fags are into it too. It is about casuals that think anything containing CGI is awful rather than accepting the show isn't trying to be the best looking thing in the world ever and being able to enjoy it for what it presents. So ingrained in the casual western fanbase is the hatred of CG that the majority literally cannot look past it. They think CG is bad because it is CG. Anyone reasonable doesn't have a problem with CG it is when the CG elements obviously clash with the 2D elements when they are trying to blend them together that thoughtful people hate.
>those tits are as stern as her face
That's just fanartists being fanartists.
Is that bad though? For once many people can understand animation doesn't make the show.
Whatever increases the chances of getting more shows like Gdgd and Tesagure is a good thing in my book.
Also honestly this is a pretty "hipster" show to like even before it got popular, like the Ishidate Kotaro shows like gdgd Fairies and Tesabu, along with things like Teekyu and that sort.
This is amazing.
The 22nd I think.
I just started watching, got through all released episodes. This show is so fucking comfy holy shit I love how rock fucking stupid the Friends are, and not even in a mean way. Seeing a kid help solve their problems in Post Apocalyptic Zoo is so cute WHO IS THE PROFESSOR WHY DID THEY MORPH INTO WAIFUS WHY DOES SHOE-CHAN KNOW WHAT A HUMANS IS
I have so many questions but I dread the show taking a darker turn. 100% cutesy Friends helping each other with extremely dark undertones that are never addressed is the kind of gap Moe I never knew I wanted
It's not intentionally low quality like Ninja slayer. It's their best for the budget.
Tsuchinoko-chan was cute. Based Kobayashi Yuu, I want her in more loud, foul-mouthed roles.
It's playing "mating"!!
It's humpy-humpy slappy-slappy
*rub rub rub*
Stop it please~ssu
>they were included in a recent promo image
You're talking about this same poster or another promo image? I was made aware in another thread of each sacred beast being in their right cardinal point, which is quite clever (as with a bunch of things about this series).
A sense of adventure is a powerful feeling.
At least in this show's case it's a fact that some Friends have nice tiddies, and all of them have great legs and butts.
/a/ loves innocent girl. Because anons want to be a cute girl in the depth's of their heart. Look at these characters who are popular on /a/. They are cute, innocent and baka.
welcome to japari park~
It could have been from the original mobage that got axed before the show aired, but I have no clue, I'm like the guy who spammed caps lock earlier since I only picked it up today. I would like to see how the actual game was like though.
So what's this show about and why is it so popular now? This is one of the fastest growing popular shows I've seen in a while. The amount of costantly created fanart is insane!
>I imagine mainstream books sell much better than your average anime BD vol.
I've been wondering if books tend to be preordered on Amazon a lot, like anime BD are. Mainstream books sell more than anime, but that doesn't mean much in this case if those sells are made in bookshops.
Cute girls that are also cute animals.
Japan has loved that stuff since always.
It was very cute! And nervous too.
The cuteness and charm doesn't feel forced like most moe anime though, which is what really pulled me in.
I expect nothing less from the creator of Sgt. Frog.
>You look like a feline Friend too! What are you good at?
>I'm good at things like sewing and guitar-nyan! What about you, Serval-chan?
>Sohing and gitah? What's that? Sugooi! I'm good at tree climbing and running and...
Yes, there was even a crossover event in the game where the Keroros end up in Japari Park and turn into girls.
Yeah. Yoshizaki Mine is the original character designer. He also create all the world setting. This season he does another show as well.
>perverted pedo losers sexualizing little girl characters
do you have no shame?
is there a gachi version of the japari park opening yet
yeah because bestiality is so much better! yiff in hell
Serious blog post. Before you know it you will see these kinds of things on ANN and Crunchyroll probably.
>The cutesy Kawaii appearance of the show may just be a mask to hide the post apocalyptic undertones underneath
Really fires up the neurons
>little girl characters
the only little girl in this show is kaban, and you'd have to be a demon to think lewd thoughts about kaban. shes too pure
She took it off for a brief second in episode 1 before falling asleep.
>horrible voice acting, shoddy production values, and an inane script that can be described as “contentless”
The writer clearly has a sub 100 IQ. Why do you even care about some random dumbfuck spouting retarded shit?
>surely nobody would like a show for just being earnest simple fun
>I-IT HAS TO BE SOMETHING DEEP AND SERIOUS SO THAT I CAN I LIKE THIS SHOW AS WELL
Ah. Classic unfounded rationalization.
>People have become animals and it explains why the vocabulary level of these anthropomorphic animals is very low — they just say, “Tanoshii” and “Sugoi”, to questions that always have a standard reply.
Confirmed for not having watched the show.
How did you find this trash
Why would you post it here
ANN already hosts an AnimeNow article by the AnimeConsortiumJapan to try to explain why Kemono Friends is popular in Japan.
Basically, the same shitty arguments. It even uses the My Little Pony-stuff that some guy tried to force upon the threads.
Wouldn't surprise me if the author of that AnimeNow-article is in fact the very same guy who talked about My Little Pony all the time.
Pretty much predicted this. The west is going to grasp at straws really hard because they can't accept the fact that a fun cute show without any pretense of irony or so-called "intellectual complexity" is more popular in nipland than their favorite animu.
>Wouldn't surprise me if the author of that AnimeNow-article is in fact the very same guy
Totally possible considering many paragraphs from that article looked almost like copy-pasted posts from these threads. But it's more likely a random lurker.
You can clearly see that there's a bit of his own opinion that paragraph as well, and he talks way too much about how this is bizarre as if normal humans would never get interested in a bunch of cute animal girls or something.
Please don't give attention to people like that and please don't go looking for blogposts holy fuck wai.
No, the part about general western opinion are the two sentences before that.
>don't have attention span to read two paragraphs
Yeah I sure missed out on the comparison with FNaF and the conclusion.
>The show will then becomes “contentless” when the hype dies out.
Totally not the blogger's opinion even though he repeats himself!
You are the ones who fucked up.
Not sure if this has been translated or not.
It's better if they don't understand it, they'll pretend to know what they're talking about for a bit and then just give up, instead of ruining any english discussion like has happened for any show that got remotely popular in the west.
What confuses me is why CR aren't pushing it harder though. They have had maybe 2 or 3 news articles on it yet they are actually investors in the whole project not just licensing the show from what I can tell.
Guess that's what you get by searching the western Twitter.
>that entire FNAF comparison
Congratulations you motherfucker. You actually made me lose brain cells --- the bad kind and not the pure bliss kind that I experience when this show melts my brain.
>start reading way too deeply into the show.
>It even uses the My Little Pony-stuff
Yeah I hate it when other people think they know better why I like something than I myself. "Analysts" can fuck off. They don't seem to be able to get anything right these days.
>I don't understand the appeal
That's fine. Now fuck off and let people enjoy it.
It is good to see the positive opinions there but also annoying to see the
>wtf why is this shitty CGI show so popular
>my TL is filled with Kemono Friends wtf is this
>why is this shitty kids show so popular
>going to have to watch Kemono Friends to see what all the memes are about
>watched Kemono Friends worst show ever don't get the popularity
Types of posts.
>shoebills are already Japanese meme animals
>Shoebill-chan has a really unique and clever design
It's no wonder her popularity exploded overnight.
They probably expect that westerners won't like it at all, by comparing data of viewers with that of shows that were also made in 3DCG. Their investment in the show is very likely to be quite small.
Large enough that they will definitely get the rights to air it, but not so large that they require it to be a hit. It might even be that Crunchyroll invested into this show years ago, when the multimedia-project was in the starting phase.
I agree to some extent that westerner will have more of a proclivity to do this but the Japanese are very much doing it too although its just a smaller subset of the viewership and not the major draw. Here is a post I made the other day:
Holy shit. Some people really deep theorise on this show.
Apparently the first episode follows the history of evolution of humanity.
-Kaban-chan starts off no more than a beast unaware of her abilities.
-Then it is shown that humans develop an advantage over other animals through endurance with the scene where Serval pants.
-Humans even though outpaced by their prey and possibly weaker in the wild could often run far longer so would kill animals by exhausting them with superior endurance.
-Then the ability to throw at a target/goal which gave humans advantage in hunting and so on is shown when they fight the Cerulean.
It goes on further to go into some stuff about being expelled from paradise, gilgamesh, humbaba and ancient Mesopotamia which I don't really follow.
>please don't go looking for blogposts holy fuck wai.
I agree and I wouldn't post one myself, but when someone does it I feel compelled to read it and react on it if it's too dumb. I can't really help it.
From that article.
>What drives people to watch Kemono Friends is the endless speculating about how sugoi the setting is.
It's amazing how someone can be so clueless about something and at the same time think his opinion matters enough to write a lenghty blog post about it.
Your average western anime viewer only likes to watch the latest mature, dark show. Also, males aren't suppose to like cute things, a good example of this are those Kirby covers.
Also this kind of show would be seen as childish and "contentless" by your average westerner. I hate to bring it up, but it's part of why people made such a big deal about the MLP thing, while in Japan there's a good chance your average otaku watches both kids and late night anime.
Yes but the nips at least have the decency to merge their silly tinfoil hat theories with the fact that they also enjoy the show for what it is. Besides those are actually interesting observations instead of whatever stupid narrative the west tries to manufacture to build some sort of faux enjoyment for this show.
They did invest in the whole project if the way it is listed on the website is anything to go by and are fairly high up on the list but not super high. Given the relatively low budget though maybe the buy in wasn't so high.

Someone with such mean looking eyes can't really be a bad person
>without any pretense of irony or so-called "intellectual complexity"
I don't get it. Why do some people want this pretentious shit? The only purpose of entertainment is to entertain. I have never learned anything meaningful from anime or any entertainment media as a whole. Want to stimulate your neurons? Then go study.
People who want to read intellectual depth into entertainment are stupid and immature. Often arrogant too because they are too stupid to notice their own stupidity.
There is an interview
the much hated sakugablogposted recently where the president of Bones said:
"As of late, digital distribution has to be factor for sure. When the distribution is decided and there’s some quality to the product, you can also sell it overseas. But then, the overseas side says “sci-fi, action or fantasy” – I’m being told that if at least one of these genres is not included, the show won’t become really popular there. (laughs)"
I think you can do both. I find the idea that there is a complex mystery and deep lore to a show like this attractive and intriguing but at the same time that isn't at all why I am engaged with it or watching it. I watch it because of the good feeling it gives and the lovable characters.
>tfw have been doing sports and weight lifting for almost a decade
>this cheeky little fucking cunt comes along and outlifts me without any effort
Didn't want to post here but if someone could post Toki singing in the /wsg/ anime thread that would be great. Want others to hear her beautiful song.
This, it certainly enhances the show and makes it more engaging, but it's more of a bonus, where as most of the west seems to be convinced that must be why it got popular. I mean, god forbid anything get popular because it's fun and cute.
Yes, sure, fantasizing about back story in itself can be entertainment. But if you are unable to separate fanfiction from reality you are an idiot.
Go ahead, what did anime teach you?
What kind of friend will kokoro chan be?
just look at youjo sekai, yes they are.
If they're in the production committee and invested in the show they should somehow get a share of the profits, even if tiny. Maybe Kemono Friends being succesful in Japan is enough for them. It's likely that they never had the intention to push it in the West because they know it's not the kind of show westerners like and no amount of advertisement will change that.
Do you think they got Serval-chans VA the job too?
Servals VA is 尾崎由香 her agency is HiBiKi and HiBiKi is from what I can tell a subsidiary of Bushiroad. So maybe their producer pushed for one of their VAs without experience to get a good role and now they lucked out?
yeah, shame its not completely original.
In high school we had a volunteer week where we had to work
for free. I picked the zoo, thought it would be fun. Turned out to be a terrible week. I was 14 years old, had to do thankless shitty work in bad condition all day and even had to pay 50 bucks to rent the zoo shirt "uniform". Never again. Zoos are terrible.
Go to a park instead. Parks are a great experience. Especially when you are just an arm's reach away from a lion.
Nip action otaku and western casual anime viewers practically like the same kind of shows. It's just that nip otaku actually do spend the money for those crazy-expensive anime discs, while westerners will just shake their head.
It's not like all nip otaku are some homogenized group. There's idol-fags, action-fags, mecha-fags, fantasy-fags, comedy-fags, military-fags and whatever (plus -faglerinas of course).
Yeah still it costs nothing for them to post articles and such advertising a show. They do more work on that front for shows they aren't even invested in. Flip Flappers was getting articles and news posts every other day during its cycle.
Most likely I guess. They probably thought that it would be good training for a newbie seiyuu, letting her try acting as a lead in a show no one would be watching.
>this is Mine Yoshizaki's biggest hit since Keroro
Some of you guys need to cut the weeb down.
*You're* watching the show, are *you* japanese?
Since when did the taste of normies on mal or reddit or wherever the fuck start mattering anyways>?
I feel like Zoos are one of those places (although it's true pretty much everywhere) that if you have no degree or specialization and are just another body, it's one of the worst places to work, whereas if you get to care, medically help, play with, and are exposed to the animals in non-manual labor ways, it's fucking awesome. You always wanna be that guy on youtube who's cuddling the Leopard compared to the guy who inevitably has to shovel out all of it's shit.
She seemed really excited on her twitter that her name got on the cover of a VA magazine because of the show and the fact that it was her first MC reoccurring role. She must be so excited now that so many people hear her and she has the voice that created the sugoi meme. I want to follow her career a bit now, I never really cared about VA before though.
You are right tbqh. Why should we care what some random losers think? I only care about what I think and only reason I hang out in these threads are because they are tanoshii, my friends.
I wish I had to shovel shit. That would have been a lot easier and more pleasant than what I actually had to do. No, I just got extremely unlucky and was too young to handle the situation.
But yeah, actually handling the animals is great. What I like about animals is that they are direct and honest. You can pet and cuddle an animal you have never seen before. Now try to do that with a human.
I picked this show up today because of this image of Shoebill-chan I found. I'm glad I did. Tanoshii~
Shoebill-chan is so cute. I want her to じー at me.
Shoebill is a very good bird. My Shoebill folder currently has 108 pictures. I should probably find a better use of my time.
He isn't on the staff of AKIBA's TRIP to my knowledge, he is credit with Concept Design on Kemono Friends though and from all the interviews I have read the world setting is very much his. Take a look at
I don't think Yoshizaki Mine is involved in Akiba's Trip. It's probably just anon trying to "trick" people into watching it. You should do it if you're not already watching it, it's great.
From what I gather Yoshizaki came up with a general world setting (Japari Park) and the characters initially and then aided the creators of various media versions (game, manga, anime) in creating their own takes on it.
I want to ride on Jaguar-san's river ferry!
Making a gross blanket statement about intellectualism by calling something you don't like "stupid and immature" does not lend much credibility to your opinions.
The telling thing is that he thinks learning and entertainment are two entirely separate and incompatible things. Outside of anime I get most of my entertainment from learning and even spend a large amount of my "anime time" on research.
