Adulthood is knowing he's right.

Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

You guys do know "Miyazaki" isn't a real person right? He's the Alex Jones of the Anime industry. He is a character created by the greatest minds in the Anime community in order to detract from their critics who believe that Anime is losing its humanity. By constructing Miyazaki as a paranoid old man they detract any credibility from these concerns viewers might have. Let me ask you this, have you ever seen Miyazaki in the flesh? Didn't think so.

>Anger that you cannot find any anime to definitively prove it isn't a mistake.

>Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves.
The problem is that using "childish" as a derogatory is something that's deeply rooted within almost any culture. It's ad hominem in its purest form. How often do you see adults treat children or younger adults as inferior and dismiss their views simply based on alleged inexperience even if they're right? You can easily attack someone's position by saying it's childish or naive without giving any explicit details or legitimate arguments. It's really hard to get rid of that because of how easy and powerful it is.

People who have limited social skills, socially handicaped morons who then go on to create stories for the same people they have difficulties interacting with.

These stories lack something human, the characters are cliché rehashes of other popular anime. Unlike other works of art anime is not being inspired by real life anymore, it is being inspired by other anime

From what I've seen, what Miyazaki hates the most is the unrealistic portrayal of characters in Anime. Even in the rare cases where the characters aren't cliches or archetypes they still aren't grounded or believable, or have a dichotomy of simple emotions with no complexity. Remember that Anime originally was based on a desire to create cartoons like Disney but with far more emphasis on characters that are more human-like as opposed to Disney's characters which were anything but.

Wasn't this a fictitious quote to begin with? Anyway my take on Miyazaki is that he is right in a certain sense. Much of today's anime is no longer about showcasing artistic skill, telling interesting stories, or catering to a mature audience. Instead we have a CONSTANT barrage of moe, loli, gay/les, highschool, harem, etc anime for insecure man children who have not grown up emotionally. Look at each season and tell me how many shows you could honestly show to your parents without them cringing to their graves, its not many.

Example: Maid Dragon, Gabriel Dropout, LWA, and Demi are the most popular shows on /a/ by a long margin this season. While a show like Onihei is discussed by maybe a half dozen people RARELY. I like to see men/women WORK towards achieving a problem, instead of fawning over fictional little girls because they cause a visual overload in my brain.

So take it for what it is, if you love watching little fictional girls be paraded around doing nothing of worthy value, chances are you are immature and have refused to grow up.

Because that shit doesn't pay, nor can it be reliably shoved out in great quantity. Keep in mind anime is an corporate run industry.

This is a big criticism I have of anime too. Many of the recent "Classics" according to my normie friends are lolsometa festivals like onepunchman and Kill la Kill. Shows that don't make even the slightest lick of sense if you aren't already familiar with a bunch of anime tropes. There's ton of fanservice. Anime is generally up its own ass and commercialized.

Anime as an industry is still spitting out gold just due to the sheer size of the industry, but there's way too much shit that's derivative of other anime, and not enough stuff that seeks influence from outside of anime. I mean there has always been this problem, there were countless clones of sailor moon, but I find myself turning off more and more shows for being too tropey.

It is a good observation that the people that make anime are too introverted. Most of the great artists have gone outside to find inspiration. People that want to grow up to make anime and manga just read anime and manga all day.

I think anybody that wants to make the next great anime should make a point of trying to live a life outside of watching anime.

Doesn't matter who buys, I know what sells obviously by making that statement above.

What I AM saying is that Miyazaki does not approve of the industry today because of the horrible effect its having on the population.

>because of the horrible effect its having on the population
That's what you get from it?
I see he is just doesn't like most anime coming out because the creators are are otaku and it shows in what they create.

Miyazaki right again

Yes because Otaku (among many other things granted) are contributing to the downfall of their society. Look at the low birth rates, the rampant sexual perversion, how men never leave their dwelling, and just how low the bar has been set for what makes an anime "good".

So yes, that is what I got out of it. Otaku are ruining Japanese society, period.

>>153589615
I understand but has Miyazaki said that is his concern?
From what I've seen it just seemed more like concern and frustration with direction of anime as a medium/industry.

If you actually care what Miyazaki thinks, stay the fuck out of "anime is dying" threads, because they're usually a complete misrepresentation of his beliefs, based on selected fragments of things he's said (generally recent things, while ignoring that he's been saying similar things for a long, long time), and aimed at making him seem to agree with the average 20-/30-something Western nostalgiafag who grew up on Bebop and Akira and wants high-budget OVAs back.

It's no secret that /a/ is /v/'s meme puppet. Gone were the days when /a/ would constantly tell /v/ to fuckoff. Now, /v/ermin assimilate themselves on /a/ in droves on a daily basis.

Why do you think /v/ermin ""memes"" easily infiltrate /a/ as if it is part of /a/ itself? These cancerous stock posts >>153569666, most of them came from /v/.
