Ausfag here, toilets at my school were horrible. Broken stalls, burnt out stalls, broken seats, piss everywhere. I'd honestly prefer to piss in the bushes, let alone eat in there. Back when I was in high school, my friends and I all waited until to last minute to go the the cafeteria and eat. Way to many people push and shoving to get food and a place to sit. We'd rather just spend time in the empty AC'd library.

Then I transferred overseas, and for some reason, it was really hard to make friends in senior year of American high school. Although I didn't eat in the toilet alone, I found another transfer student and we'd eat lunch together.

I guess this wouldn't apply in anime because teachers aren't assigned their own classrooms, so you can't just get on a teacher's good side and eat in their classroom instead. At least, I don't know of any examples in anime. The closest would be eating in the club room, but that involves other people.
