Who is smarter, Kira or L? L in my opinion

Light is more intelligent according the mangaka, but they also claim L is the smartest character in the series. Makes sense because L is an actual detective.

That's just Light tricking a stupider character into doing his work for him. It is an impressive feat, especially killing a shinigami, but it doesn't make L look dumber.

To be fair, you can also get on L for letting it come to this and getting killed. But they're both prideful fools and want to win on their own terms.

L is a world renowned super detective with tons of experience. Light is literally just some random student.

That Light could keep up with L is far more impressive.

Although both are only as clever as the writer.

I think L is smarter too, but I guess the logic would be that since Light is one of the smartest students in japan, and japan has some of the best public schools in the world. Then therefore, light would be one of the smartest students in the world/
