I thought for sure it was going to be some dumb fawning over a cute guy episode, and then I was worried it was going to turn into a damsel gets saved by the knight episode, but it never did. It seems like they are intent on making full characters and not just archetypes for a plot, as well as avoiding a lot of easy cliches.

All of them were neutralized by Nakashima's words in an interview after the show finished. He even went out of hia way to say Mako and Gama's relationships was just respect.

Even the flowers frame (because that wasn't even enough to call it a scene). Nakashima said in the panel of the ep 25 OVA it was just him carrying his lunch, but that one seemes more like a joke as he seemed he had no idea which scene they were talking about.
