No one knows how long it's gonna go, on either side of the spectrum. Kamachi can go as long as he wants because LNs don't get cancelled, Miki wouldn't pull the plug on him most likely, and this isn't the first LN to go on for years. There's no justification for it ending, just as there's none for it going on forever.

If you want to use "low but still good sales" as an example, go look at all of Kawakami's shit still publishing. For all you know this might just be another WW3. Index is Kamachi's sandbox for ideas and even after so many damn volumes it still sells so well. But there's no reason to get so upset over others saying it might keep going. No one's aggressively shitposting, it's just for fun.

How so? It's borderline impossible for Index to decline so much it stops being profitable to Dengeki, I've seen series decline much harder in sales that are still ongoing up to this day with no signs of being cancelled. It's going to end when he damn well wants to end it.

The main issue I have is "lol Aleister isn't the final boss, we will have a third series for the real final boss" is that Aleister has been made a huge deal since day one. Joke as much as you want about AAAAAAAA and "hurrdurr Aiwass help me" but you know good and well he has been written as a big fish since day one. It'd be poor writing to give him so much attention and then legit make him a joke for someone else.

That could be a part the economy might also be slowing down. Think a big thing with having so many series is that any one is less likely to reach a critical mass where they breakout and people are buying it because everyone is talking about it. The Toaru series is still making money and light novels are so cheap to make that the main series isn't going to get cancelled from lack of sales.

The drop of sales across the whole market I think is worrying about what the future of anime/manga/light novels will be made in the future. Could be headed towards another crash.
