1.0 Is like what Anno was essentially aiming for in the Rebuilds, A movie that could capture some more of the publicized Eva and give some new viewers the good show. 2.0 was the slow descent into fanservice and Anno getting his shit kicked in by Waifuists, But it still had the integrity of NGE and the signature art standards of Anno (Excluding the shitty ending). Now, 3.0. 3.0 is the worst thing Anno has ever done, Period. I'm not going to spoil it, But it's completely fucking shit. There's only a little bit of thinking still left to theorize and Anno fucks off and gives Fanservice out like candy. Not trying to choke the flame of shitty waifuists slapping him back and forth trying to change his view on NGE into some sort of Tumblr-esque series. We have to hope that 4.0 or 3.0+1.0 is better than it.

The animation is nice and the third one is genuinely interesting, while the other two are just trite retreads

Third might as well have been a different story altogether just rebranded under the Eva banner because Anno can't do anything else anymore.

Rei is dumbed down, Asuka is dumbed down, Kaji is barely there. There are barely any parallels between the adults and children.

What would be better is if 3.0 wasn't so distracted with trying to shock you and actually showed the kind of people Misato and Asuka have become. Actually set up Rei Q for some developement of her own while they're at it.

But its just so Schlocky.

They're pretty, got good music, and the JP acting is as good as ever. Some new designs for plugsuits are cool, Slavsquatting Asuka looks kinda cool. But there aint no heart in it anymore.


So don't so much turn off your brain, but try your best to ignore how much it comes up short as far as character writing is concerned.

The biggest problem with the Rebuilds, Waifuwars, Reifags, tumblrfags/Shikinamifags , all this shit, is that its turned a series fanbase thats should be about learning to like yourself by accepting yourself and accepting the faults and perspectives of others into a fucking online crab culture where everyone has to shit on each other's waifu, and the thematic importance of each character, because "your enemy" in these incipid autist squabbles "doesn't understand eva."

Its honestly more depressing than the show.

1.0 is rehash, things start going off the rails in 2.0, and 3.0 is pure batshit crazy.
