Welcome To Japari Park, please enjoy your stay and have fun.
>Ah! Could it be that you're a cerulean?
We need a place to discuss an extremely popular anime and share good finds from the gushing stream of fanart. There's a lot of translators and artists, too.
>when Bag-chan finds out she's a hunter and Serval turns on her
A tough call. I share your worries, but so far the threads refuse to become shitty despite all the hype and attention, and there's a wealth of OC to catch up with and post. That being said, the option of taking that to /c/, and making threads here only when discussion calls for it, exists and should be contemplated in due time.
If Sandstar transforms male animals into mostly human girls, it may as well grant them with human longevity.
I swear i've seen this animal before, in some sort of game
It used to be rich in the past
Coincidentally, I was just playing the game that you probably meant
We're on our way to save it back to its glory days, believe in the Friends!
Ah, it would be nice to go to Japari Park.
I might rewatch the show.
I should probably stop at some point.
If the right owners don't want to make a new game I hope we'll at least get a couple of fangames.
Even a simple 2D platformer could be great if it includes the most charming aspects of the show: solving the problems of cute and retarded animal girls, in different environments and with a light-hearted tone.
It could even be possible to use the events of the anime almost as is, then just couple them with exploration, item finding, puzzle games etc.
It's hard to say since they avoid showing multiple Friends of the same species, so there no way to know how they handle aging. The original mobile game also seemed to take place shortly after the animals started becoming Friends. We don't really know the situation in the anime at this point, even though people speculate they've been turned into girls for a long time.
If you count the tie up of the original mobile game at least though, we do know that it turned 4 adult and 1 teenage alien into 5 teenage-like girls with no visible difference in their age, so it does seem to mess with aging.
I don't understand
Collaboration with McDonald in the past
It was very popular.
Nah. Even before failing, it was clearly low budget. The show has better backgrounds than the game and each character only had like 6 lines of voice acting - with only one sound bit for battles (attack quote when using their special attack) and no story recordings at all. All the text was just plain text, without even generic sound bits accompanying it.
Collaboration with McDonald in the past
It was very popular.
goof double posts
I do not understand
It's interesting how when the app for Kemono Friends closed down sites like Crunchyroll and ANN were posting about it straight away but they havent mentioned its huge success now at all which is a much better story and far more bizarre.
Going purely by posting styles I have to guess that there are at least 2 Japan friends in this thread right now.
Welcome back to youkoso /a/
Game was shut down before the anime, I believe? The anime's success or even production seems to have been one last hurrah for money that was wildly productive beyond anyone's imagination, both from the production side and consumer side.
Bag-chan's kind of an ass.
Gathering tea leaves for Alpaca
I love the "beautiful desolation" post-apocalyptic feel of Japari Park.
Though, does anyone remember if Serval ever saved whoever screamed (and thus attracted her) from the giant Cerulean at the Savannah gate in ep1? It's like Serval killed it with Kaban, and then they forgot that a poor unseen Friend was eaten and digested? Or did I miss a scene?
Don't know why I laughed at this picture.
here's the finale of Notかばんちゃん and friends
aka, a whole four pages
Servals voice actress must be on cloud nine. She's been in 3 shows according to ANN and must have been excited just to get a MC role even in an anime that nobody would probably watch before the show aired.
This is a kids show (Japanese).
Leaving this for the colorfag to pick up at some point.
Also I think the bits about the animals serve the purpose of explaining the personality traits of the friends. If you knew nothing about beavers or prairie dogs for example a lot of their behaviours the characters exhibit would seem arbitrary.
>tfw you're favorite fetish artist found and loves this show
shit how do i make stamps
i can't cut my own steel firebrands
Don't remember anything in the radio show since the rise in popularity was just a few days ago and it updates at mondays. I'll try to listen to the latest epidose again. My moon is very week so I'm not very confident if I could catch their reactions.
One of the replies was "Suugoooi~! You're a friend who can use CAD/CAM!"
>basically confused and happy about it and amused
This describes everyone involved with how Kemono Friends is. This show has no right to be this plain amusing at face value but it is.
I expected it to just be something plainly comfy and simple I could just run in the background while I putter around on the computer to relax.. I didn't expect it to make me feel so much.
The poor Friends would probably never get to taste the deliciousness that is Japari buns if there were human visitors in the park and it was still running properly. They'd get squirt bottle'd and probably dry animal feed instead.
Hell, all the Friends would be probably abused by hundreds of grabby kids or molested by male visitors (or maybe that's the point, considering how skimpy the Sandstar made the Friends' outfits?).
It's best that Kaban-chan never finds out she's a human and that the park never reopens.
Manflesh is the most delicious.
This is why mankind went extinct.
so cool spectacle of meals
my dick is diamonds
It's pretty soon until I go to the library.
This may or may not be a good thing if they can crank out a reboot fast enough to ride the wave. By and large, the old game looked to be shit as hell, so a chance to make a better version would probably help a lot if it can push into the Kancolle/Touhou market.
To be fair, they had absolutely no way of knowing that it would get this popular.
It'd be nice to have an actual video game (like a 3d platformer) so that you could actually explore the park rather than some mobage.
A part of me feels that'd backfire. Level designs are what kills JP game producers as they're a lot of work and time required that can pan out into a poor investment.
I think it'd be best if, from a work-profit-quality balance, they went the route of merging FGO with Kancolle and just made a story-driven background to a resource-gathering gatcha game.
There's less chances to be disappointed that way.
I want to know more about this exact penguin
this hits all the right notes
no pun intended
You can't do it
until you watch the last episode, anon.
I'd like a game that was like the anime. Some anon suggested the other day you go around the different areas and meet new friends then woe as a team with them to solve puzzles/problems to unlock new areas with more friends and it's if the mystery get revealed as you progress too.
You're fucking killing me anon. A new one so soon? God damn.
I can't handle this level of たのしーい！！
But what does it says?
The copyright is generally listed for "Kemono Friends Project", which according to Japanese wikipedia is composed by...
JVCKENWOOD Victor Entertainment Corp
Crunchyroll anime fundraising
Age Global Networks
Just-Pro Talent Agency
Only the game itself credits Nexo, but Kemono Friends was announced as a multimedia project from the start.
Pretty much. The actual interaction with your pokefriends is a bit limited, though there's a sequel that I haven't played yet.
Still, it's kind of what I'd like a kemono friends game to be like.
>2ch thread numbers
>Kemono Friends - 30
>Youjo Senki - 29
>Little Witch Academia - 18
>Gabriel Dropout - 14
>Maid Dragon - 12
>Demi-Chan - 8
>ACCA 13 - 3
>It just doesn't stop.
The production committee must be banging their heads for not meeting the unexpected demand
They literally had no faith in the show
This might be the most Nippon banzai thing I've ever read.
>What is it about and why is it so popular?
Girl with amnesia wakes up in a giant zoo where all animals turned into girls. They then go into a journey to the library where they'll learn the girl's identity. So far, each episode focuses on their encounter with different animal girls and some peculiarity involving them, generally related to their animal origin while they go towards their goal.
The anime in general is very low budget, but even compared to the other episodes Episode 1 has a bunch of production problems, so it's not really representative of the series.
It makes sense from a business standpoint. We're only five eps in with no ability to predict the long term (or even month-long) popularity of Kemono Friends.
Creating or rebooting a game takes tons of work and money to set up the servers, get all the moderators and IT people ready, etc. Making a new game would take even more time and money.
As far as we know now, Kemono Friends won't and should not be rebooted as a game; they can make further decisions on where to go by gauging mid-season or better, end of season's popularity to see if it's worth riding that at the end for a new game.
To do so sooner would be putting out crap that could very well kill the game as an obvious cash-grab.
Ibischan is my favourite friend. I loved how she made bagchan sing.
>why is it so popular?
It takes the best parts of Touhou without the baggage of its own long-term popularity and expanded setting.
The series is very comfy and at the same time mysterious. There's a post-apocalyptic world of desolation and abandoned buildings interspersed with open untamed wildlands. Filled with cute, helpful, innocent girls who just want to make others happy.
It's amazing. It's everything Nyanko Days should have been for me in comfiness, and yet the cuteness feels comfortable and unforced (unlike how all the cute girls in Touhou are cute but brutally eat human flesh).
She's really one of the best.
What's happening in twitter. It looks like someone unleashed some bots it's harder to get new OC there.
That's honestly an even scarier business proposition, since it's very well possible the script writing for S2 would suck ass if it ruins what makes S1 good so far (innocence, learning snippets, cute girls, no particular forced drama or mystery a la Attack on Titan).
True enough. Even a S2 will feel like a cash-in and in rushing it as well they will not be able to keep up with the S1 charm as they will "try" to "keep it popular".
We gotta wait and see I suppose. Hopefully the train won't reach a stop any station soon.
A new mobage would be an easier thing to do if it clones the more popular games right now and adds in gatcha girl fighting ([email protected] a long itme ago, FGO, Granblue, Kancolle).
Popularity started to rise above normal levels on Monday. On Tuesday most people who care about the show had noticed it. It's spreading viral since.
I hope this won't change the quality of the show more than absolutely necessary. And I hope the autists, memeposters and horny teenagers lose interest soon and go back to their isekai harem waifu shows. We don't need another MLP fandom. The show doesn't deserve that.
>We don't need another MLP fandom.
Are you retarded or what?
That you are comparing this to MLP already tells me that you are. Did MLP invent things getting popular or what? Kill yourself retard.
Google Translate actually sometimes translates the title as "Chemo Friends"
I wish some of my favorite shows had a fanbase as big as the MLP one so that they could create fan material that could last a lifetime rather than just being literally whos shows. And that's without counting all the official material and merchandise that would come as result from it.
Everything has a plus and a minus. And the pluses of popularity heavily outweight the ones of obscurity.
No, you're just autistic.
Serval says this in the sub as to why she runs over to help.
This is sarcasm, you twit. It's a facetious way to explain why there were no remains of whatever Friend Serval ostensibly heard with her superhearing.
Stop ruining good post-apoc settings. You're the sort of loser who who tries to turn innawoods or urban exploration into Call of Duty Zombies.
That man in the mask is a surgeon, everything will be daijoubu.
Learn to read, autismo. It's your own fault despite your problems that you need to backpedal in embarrassment over how you can't interpret written language properly.
I recommend you see a learning therapist.
That'd be dumb. That kind of thing never happens even though newbie VAs are being cast in big roles all the time. And this show already has enough big name VAs who are still keeping things charming.
Serval said it you stupid Friend. Digestion explains why they got nothing but jello cubes (or Serval was dumb and heard screeching metal from the gate the Cerlulean was hanging on).
Eh, the cry for help was clearly audible.
If you're doubting the Ceruleans eating Friends, it at least happened in the game, which is how they evolve (although no character is ever actually killed, everything they ate is off-screen, and the only characters eaten during the story itself are immediately rescued alive by blowing up the Cerulean).
>That was said in the episode itself.
>by someone who is an expert in 'alien' lifeforms, no less.
All they probably know is that ceruleans engulf things and those things disappear.
Oh yeah it's Saturday, of course you fags are going to be out ruining threads, what was I even thinking.
OMG YOU IDIOT JUST LISTEN TO THE RETARDED CAT WHEN SHE SAYS THINGS OMG
AND THERE WAS NOTHING THERE SO OBVIOUSLY THE ONLY POSSIBLE EXPLANATION IS THAT THE TOTALLY UNKNOWN ENTITIES EAT PEOPLE
Or maybe you're a bunch of trolls, and idiots talking out of your asses about things we don't actually have real information about.
These threads were comfy and fun before people like you showed up here and started attacking people and throwing your feces around. Please go back to where you came from.
Maybe? Capturing subjects is just as possible an explanation as eating them considering the ceruleans obviously aren't native earth creatures, if they're even alive at all.
Jumping to conclusions is for stupid Friends who aren't good at thinking.
Frogs can change sex by eating a fly? すごーい！
When Jurassic Park was written, the idea that dinosaurs were birds and not reptiles was still 'cutting edge.' The geneticists that worked for the park were not experts on dinosaurs and just did whatever (they were more interested in money/fame than science/ethics).
Some species have been known to change sex to even out the population. (i.e. changing from female to male if there are too many females or vise versa)
The 1990's naivete about genomics is just cute. They still believed that mapping the genome and understanding its function would be one and the same thing. We have the mapped genomes for 20 years now, and still don't know shit about 99% of the content.
Such a gender change trait would include many thousands of genes. Accidentally transplanting something as complex as this and still getting a perfectly viable organism is pure fiction.
> MC wakes up with amnesia
> Is the only human amongst animal-people in a post-apocalyptic environment
well, techncially he's not human, but he used to be
> Slimes and shit wandering around
though they used to be human
It makes sense, actually.
Why did this blow up in popularity? I remember the first threads went something like "This is a train wreck. Let's go in and watch the final moments of each passenger in all its gory horror!"
That was kind of the point of the book, though. We didn't fully understand this powerful new science of genetics, but some old rich guy was abusing it to make a quick buck from an amusement park.
Its just that a story about a park full of dinosaurs running wild and eating everyone is more captivating than people getting rashes from genetically modified corn.
The tone changed a few dozen posts in. Some anons liked the show despite its shortcomings. The show had a small following since the first episode. Why it exploded, no idea. It happened somewhere in the Japanese social networks.
Pop-culture gets every science wrong. From quantum mechanics and to something as simple as fixed stars, that in almost every movie or anime about space are shown to move in the background (to indicate the movement of the spacecraft).
I think this image is a pretty accurate depiction of a lot of people's reaction to the show. That's how it was for me at least.
There really isn't that much increase of people watching this show on /a/, judging by the IPs. Only like 30-50 new posters, albeit some are very dedicated at it. Some even unironically think this show is legit good or the AOTS because they bought the twatter meme and suffer some sort of sunken cost fallacy after watching this on a binge, or (even worse) falling for the MMD anime meme for years.
Tsuchinoko was probably created from scratch by scientists as a proof of concept or PR stunt for whatever bizarre technology allows for the creation of Friends. In the book Jurassic Park, Ingen creates a tiny elephant for similar reasons.
That explains why she's so familiar with the park and humans. Most of the Friends seemed to have been wild animals, but Tsuchinoko grew up in a lab.
>Some even unironically think this show is legit good
I think you've managed to convince yourself that this show can't possibly be a honest-to-god well written and entertaining anime worthy of being someone's favorite show of the season just because of the circumstances of its production.
Looks like you're the one who fell for the memes.
>Most of the Friends seemed to have been wild animals
The Aurochs that appeared at the end of episode 5 is based on an extinct animal, who had to be cloned in order to exist again in the first place. We'll see if they say anything about humans.
Please remember not to name your animals after anime characters because you will regret.
I think I liked the sequel more, it was interesting to see how Cofagrigus moved on its back and that Purrloin was always bipedal. Dusknoir and Gigalith are surprisingly likeable, I'm always surprised when they have personalities. Snivy is a tsundere princess, Oshawott is a wanna-be detective, Reuniclus is a mad scientist.
The music was very atmospheric at points so you'd hang around just to listen, and pikachu's nightmare cutscene is the cutest (https://youtu.be/jkOgUercZb4?t=1h57m59s ). Still easy modo as fuck bosses though. They included a dance minigame too, which can be won by jerking off the remote.
I hope Kemono Friends doesn't go too much like that one though, I'd hate to see Friends unable to control their bodies until they pass out. Shit's too cruel.
Naturally they could bring back extinct animals. However the auroch is a special case:
Not him, but I can see the similarity.
By my understanding, the game has multiple cryptids like Tsuchinoko (kamaitachi and such) as well as fully-mythological beasts like Byakko, Orochi, etc.
He phrased it wrong but I see where he's coming from. It feels very innocent and it's not throwing fanservice in our faces like a lot of other shows, it cares more about just being fun. The only really big "otaku pandering" scene was the kissing one, but that's a thing that prairie dogs actually do.
I think you missed an else there, but here, have this.
I really, really wanted to like this anime.
