His character is supposed to learn love and gain confidence (sexually too) and the show does a great job at that on occasion. 10 seemed great because it came across as him taking action. I interpreted it as him knowing he was proposing but covering it up out of fear of rejection. The rings had dual purpose of course. But Kubo's "take his words at face value ignore the setting, imagery, everything" is a disservice to Yuuri's character growth. What happened to him understanding love and his own sexuality? What about his confidence. I guess he doesn't understand any of his feelings after nearly being with Victor for a year.
