Then the same faces got to me in the last chapter and couldn't tell who was who or even what happened to everyone in the end. I don't know, everything after the final battle was just a blur to me.

The point is examining what would you do if given a finite time limit to live, a tool of immeasurable power and also a challenge you must overcome before you die besides whatever you want to do.

Also I wish the sister who defended the rapist because MUH CASUALITIES died in the end but that's more self satisfaction than adding to the stories

Kids dropped dead before I got to care for them. And by the time it was clear that they'd all die, any kind of suspense went out the window. It's possible to get attached to a character that's doomed to die or has such a major death wish it's obvious they'll wind up dead, but the anime failed at making me care for the characters. Failed spectacularly, too. I was bored out of the mind by the time it got political and the bitch-science mom showed up. I guess the show's predictability was the biggest problem. Also, absolutely lame as fuck final battle. Read up a bit on the manga after I was done with the anime and the last fight in manga sounds like it was a hell of a lot better than the joke I watched.

I guess in this case, despair is a lot like love: their opposites are both apathy. I didn't care about the kids and it didn't feel like a show about despair. And once you take despair out of Bokurano, all it has left going for it is its crazy good OP.

I never liked this comparison. They're only very broadly similar. One's about fear of opening up to others, and the other's about personal morality/priorities in the face of death. And the structures and character setups are also pretty different aside from the basic MotW-mecha elements. I like Bokurano more, too, but they really aren't the same thing.

If any anime was the pure definition of "shit," then Bokurano's anime adaption would be it.
I still can't believe that the director was allowed to change the story so drastically because he genuinely hated the manga. Why he was chosen or chose to work on Bokurano despite hating it, makes no fucking sense.
