>translator notes are BAD
>localizing dialog is BAD
then what's the right way to do subs?
Get drilled commie retard.
It's not about localizing it's about trying to shove as many memes as you can into the script.

>translator notes are BAD
Only retards think this.
>translator notes are BAD
No, they are not.

TL notes being bad is something gg/Commie said, and we all know gg/Commie are shit.
Localization is always bad. Translator notes for minor and very specific things are acceptable.
If you cannot understand very basic Japanese things and need translator notes for the entire show, you should fuck off and die.

Knowing your audience is the right way to do it.

More or less this. Rule of thumb: subs tailored for anime fans are usually decent. Subs tailored for casual and normalfags are usually terrible.

No, pretty much every subgroup thinks they're improper now. DDY translated "Mumei" as a literal name in Kabarneri despite it meaning "Nameless" or "No-Name", signifying she has no name. They didn't even have a TL note explaining the significance, meaning people watch Amazon subs and DDY were under the impression "Mumei" was her actual name. Later on, it bit them in the ass, as she was given a real name. Doki had it as "No-Name" from the start.

>Implying they don't have their place when done right and with a good TL
Commie pls go.
Just give people the option.
>literal translation
>literal translation with TL notes
>localized translation
There, everyone's happy.

In a perfect world.
Make it as non-inclusive as possible
>>153258300
Sounds like the subs should have said "Nameless", then, not that there was a need for TL notes
>>153258953
But that would mean that they would actually have to work.

I always grab Doko and Chihiro, especially nowdays. They are the few groups left that do fansubs and prefer unlocalized subs.

>Using meme subs to prove a point
You forget your trip Daiz
>>153259883
Same. Doki being bad was always a meme forced by the cartel.
