Agreed, but thats all romances not just anime. The buildup to Akashi winning the MC-bowl, albeit only briefly celebrated, was all the more satisfying and cute when it happened.

We the viewers had to go through the experiences of the MC, how it could all go wrong, him working through all his delusions of a perfect life, the Kafka introspective episode, before we could truly enjoy and value the successful scenario.

It seems often in romance there's a lot of forced drama with no actual payoff, its just constant hijinks and cringe. Or in the case that its a normal romance, it can be very very boring. Like the School Days VN played straight and ignoring all the side paths where he cheats and gets murdered or what have you.

A successful love is just the beginning of a long journey - all the important stuff happens afterwards.

Most romance stories feel like an introduction that should've lasted a few pages that got stretched out into a novel for no reason.

This is a good point. More romances need to be devoted to the "after story"of relationships. Enough with the intros.

It's like seeing a superhero origin story rehashed super often, like Batman and his parents dying whatever. Just skip that I'm positive the way the two characters met isn't as interesting as how their love grows 90% of the time.
