For those who weren't here (or there) when it aired, it actually ran on Cartoon Network dubbed before it ran in Japan. So the primary discussion was in /co/.

The first season is kinda hit or miss whereas the second season is where it really shines.

I thought it was completely average during the beginning but it does greatly improve as it progresses. I think the beginning turned many people away.

/co/ was a mistake.

Space Dandy had wild swings in quality. Most people could a find a set of episodes they really loved, while finding other episodes boring or cliche. It wasn't consistently good, but when it was good, it was damn good.

Comedy was hit and miss. Was not endlessly pissing myself laughing, action had no substance or tension. The animation was great, and would leap to experimental at times.

Overall was not a memorable series that left any impact. It was just something to watch once a week. Just another SoL/comedy basically.

It's far too variable and inconsistent to be much of a classic. Which is obviously intentional, given the way it was passed between directors with no continuity beyond some recurring gags.

It really has more in common with something like the Animator Expo, except here everyone used the same cast and setting. The point was really for each director to see what they could do with the idea.

Comparing it to Cowby Bebop is nonsensical.

I wasn't a big fan of the first season but I just recently started watching the second season. I've only seen up to episode 18 and I'm loving the show so far. It's been a huge improvement over season 1.

Pic related is by far my favorite episode so far and one of the best anime episodes I've ever seen. Easy 11/10
