Sometimes I want to finish a series and add it to my .txt file but I don't realize I actually dislike it until the halfway mark so I just suck it up and watch the rest at 2x

I also do it for shows I've stopped watching for a while that have a lot of episodes because I'll forget what happened, and I'll just skim through every episode up to where I stopped at 8x

I saw someone in a YoI thread yesterday say something about how it was never acknowledged that girl character and male character were married and had the triplets, claimed he thought they were little sisters of the girl, even though it was made blatantly obvious in the first episode. I would be willing to bet money that guy was watching it sped up because I don't know how else you'd miss something like that. But the point I'm making is that you miss out on details and then you look like an idiot. Same with people who 'watch' anime while doing other things. If you don't want to watch it then don't fucking download it. Don't open it up in the player. If its such a chore that you have to watch it sped up then are you actually a fan of this medium or is it just something to fill the void?

It takes about 6 hours to finish a 12 episode series. There is absolutely no reason to watch it at 2x the speed or anything of the sort, especially when I know that you don't have anything else going on in your life.

It takes ~5 hours to get through a 13 epsiode series.
You have 100 shows that you want to watch, and the number gets higher every day.
That's 500 hours to get through everything, if you can handle watching at 1.5x without the experience being meaningless then it makes way more sense.

It's not for people that just want to improve their MAL score it's or people who actually want to watch every anime they want to watch before they die.

I watch anime at 0.25x so I understand it at a much more fundamental level than the rest of you. At that pace you can pick up all the intricacies of the anime and gain more insight.

I watched Moetan at higher speed. It actually made the jokes funnier, and the episodes shorter so you didn't have time to get really bored.
I also saw the last episodes of White Album 2 at like 1.5x speed, just to get over with it, I wanted it to end and hate dropping anime.
I can also use it to fit one episode into a 25 minutes train trip, makes it just fit if you watch at 1.1x

I wonder if the people who say you can't understand at higher speeds have to slow down Teekyu to 0.5x

I'm basically used to watch stuff at 1.33x, to the point where watching stuff a normal speed feels terribly slow.

I always watch at what speed my horoscope recommends. So when it says that "You should try to take it slow and to enjoy the moment" I watch at 0.5x speed. When it says something like "Today you are especially productive" then I try to watch at 3x speed in order to finish as many episodes as possible.
