But that's wrong. Mikono was never popular, not even with japanese fans. It was Kawamori and Okada who pushed her to win despite the general reaction of the audience. IIRC even Amata's VA liked Zessica better.

The top 3 popular girls were Yunoha, MIX and Zessica, and people liked Yunoha mainly because she and Jin were the only good couple of the show.

To be fair, no one deserves anyone, the romance for the main cast was horrible from all angles.
