It's a great show and a good drama. It has its painful moments (especially in the manga), but it actually makes sense. Imo the anime adapts the Manga pretty well.

The closest the show has gotten to saying anything meaningful is that unrequited love feels bad and pure, innocent love is unrealistic.

Beyond that it's like Nagi no Asukara's love pentagram turned up to 11 with all of the characters being pieces of shit that fuck and lesbian borderline rape. It's hilarious.

I really like this show. I love Hanabi and Ecchan the most and I don't really care for Kanai or bitch teacher.

I thought the idea of two people in love with other people dating in agreement was interesting, but when they put the troll slut sensei and the rabid lesbian in the mix it just became soap opera tier.

It's generic soap opera I guess? The characters are all assholes and their inability to talk about the situation perpetuates everything. I can't call it a romance since everyone is just 'using' each other to attain something they view as unattainable.

I prefer the happy sluts, not the ones wallowing in self pity because they are idiots who won't act. Teens are horny, no one can deny that, it's why I enjoyed SD, the teen sex in that was a mix of 'I'm horny let's fuck' and assholes who won't talk.

The running theme in drama seems to be characters who won't spit out vital information or have an open discussion about relationships or who they like. Is this a normal human thing?
