Not really, it a bit over 3k which isn't a huge success but you can't call bombing.

The anime was basically an ad for the VN though, so they don't really have an incentive to adapt the rest of the VN considering they'd rather you just buy the sequel game.

Doubt it, he'll probably just adapt whatever garbage Lerche gets contracted to do next. He seems chained to the studio now. Hopefully it's something worthy of his talent but they have no qualms getting him to adapt trashy LNs like the show he did before Kuzu no Honkai.

It's a damn shame, but at least Kuzu is very good. You can see the evolution from the already amazing directing of WA2, which helps to sell what would otherwise be a pretty trashy smut manga. It's incredible how different the mood is compared to WA2, but he managed to be on point on both shows. I hope kuzu is a huge success for the guy so he can go to direct some even better projects.

Agree, I consider WA2 pretty much the best romance anime ever, I even started to learn japanese so I could read the VN.
A shame Maruto decided to write LN harem shit though, hope he'll come back to VNs once Saekano is over.
