I'm sure we've all seen this shitty bait floating around, but what fucking studio head is even being interviewed? Are their shows any good?

That moment when you realize you're selling to yourself.
I don't know why people would construe this as negative. What this means is that otaku are not only the ones who actually buy anime, but also the ones with a real passion for it.

That's true after all.
Shinkai once said he made Hoshi no Koe for himself.

Me on the right.

That's Shinbo

>bait
But this is generally true a lot of animators just want to make cute girls or cool designs and don't really care about the rest

Me in the bottom right.

iirc it was jc staff

It is fairly obvious if redundant as a statement. Anime is a business, if a business wants to be successful it caters to their consumers demands.

No it isn't.

It's a small subcontractor, they can't even make their own shows
Sometime being cute for cute's sake is worth it.

Kazumori Hashimoto of A-Line. They're a subcontractor, they don't actually produce their own anime.

So basically this guy worked on two good "mature" anime over thirty years ago, worked on a bunch of mahou shoujo, kids' shows, and low budget highschool-setting throwaway OVAs for the rest of the 80s and 90s, then got fed up with doing that stuff and founded his own in-between studio, only to realize too late that random in-between studios don't have any traction or influence, and now he has to do whatever he can get hired for, while blaming the industry for his own poor choices and inability to properly handle his career.
