Arc-V must be one of the most disappointingly bad things in all of Yugioh, and has certainly been one of the worst anime series in these last year and a half, and each following episode seems to dig that grave a little deeper each at a time.

I don't get it, they're also doing some sort of Yu-Gi-Oh 20th Selection special where they air some select episodes from the previous series (last week was Quasar episode from 5D's), so why couldn't they have just ended Arc-V early and used that timeslot to air the specials instead of dragging it out with a fucking recap this late into the series.

The last time someone used the Forbidden Four plot device cards, the dimension was shattered in four and everyone forgot their memories, though Leo kept residual memories and eventually recovered them with science.

Zarc was defeated with those cards again, so the same thing happened except Standard became Pendulum dimension and the ones that kept their memories were Reiji and Yusho. It's implied Himika and Tsukikage may have kept them as well, though it isn't 100% cause they may have been awakened by Reiji at some point before this episode.

At least it got BA to help. Also, in the manga Yuto got Cracked Helm and Fragile Armor (a 66,6% increase in monsters) and with the existence of Dark Anthelion Dragon it means Phantom Knights will be able to do rank 7.

Which is nice. It was awesome how in Standar they had made the Xyz Dimension duelists be people that used multiple ranks.

Then this was abandoned in Xyz and then when they tried to redo this in Fusion was giving us Cursed Javelin (seriously, Ono? Yuto uses his deck own again after 80 episodes and that was all?)

I can agree with this to some degree. The show definitely declined during synchro, but it was still a lot of fun and Roger's wild ride from 76-99 was exciting from beginning to end. Things only got truly shit when we got to XYZ and had to deal with Kaito and Edo's bullshit.

the series is ending.
I want some help organizing my thoughts.
I have issues with the Setting, the Characters and the Plot, but they're all a disorganized storm of words.
So help me isolate some things.

I think the series taking place over like, 4 different locations isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it was handled very poorly.
Synchro wasn't something we had a reason to even be interested in beforehand like with Heartland and Academia.

And when it was finally explored; it turned out to be kind of uninteresting. Academia wasn't interesting either, and I get that it's because Academia is mostly a front for a greater operation, I still think it's bad. I wish we had gotten a connection to the students and soldiers and a reason to care about them or rather, a reason to feel like they cared about themselves and what they were doing.

I dislike the Interdimensional War because it doesn't really even feel like a thing for the most part. Heartland was also kind of ass, but not for setting reasons.

Certain Mangaka really make going from place to place thrive, but Arc-V doesn't.

I suspect the war idea was basically fucked as soon as the show was extended by a year, considering it seems like the budget wasn't increased to compensate based on the complete lack of action duels and the limited animation in synchro and XYZ; if it was, contracts were likely set in stone for the important characters. Reiji's non-presence for 30 eps of synchro, Yuzu's diminishing presence, and the complete disappearance of Mieru from the show after she was one of the few people to survive observing the battle royale in-person point to that.

I actually liked how they used crow and Jack, though it's quite apparent that shinji was originally supposed to take Crow's role, given his lack of any actual lines until the tourney started. As well, Jack continued his 'I'm the best' characterization that he had in 5D's and functioned as a fantastic obstacle for yuya to overcome.

There are 3 possibilities:

1- Arc-V is actually popular there (I don't know, just found that image so I know jackshit about what's going on in Japan)

A lot of the low nico ratings are just for the amusement factor on the nips' part, but Arc-V kind of set itself up for this by faffing around and teasing for 100+ episodes. If it was just about the amusement factor, ratings wouldn't fluctuate based on episode quality. This has never happened before in the history of Nico. The number of votes hasn't gone up. The show is just really bad. It doesn't take much to please the Japanese audience but it doesn't take much to piss them off either. Love Live Sunshine's final episode was essentially a clipshow and it pissed them off giving it the lowest rating of the franchise. Arc-V has been mishandled far worse than that single episode.

All the main characters had development during the arc, the side characters had a sizeable role (and were fairly competent) in the narrative for a solid chunk of the arc, the main girl was in the focus and had a full git gud arc (very unusual for a YGO show), and all summon methods got love. Additionally, there were a lot of callbacks to prior shit without being as blatant as shoving crow and jack in the OP (Rank up, d-wheels, duel academia). It did almost everything right for an introductory arc.. Also action duels were a neat gimmick that allowed for exciting action scenes like during Yuya/Sawatari II, Yuzu/Masumi II, Gon/Nega Gon, or Shun/Sora I

What the hell is the difference between "entertainment dueling" and just dueling?

Is it just interacting with the monsters, like when Yuya rides around on the hippo? Why does that even impress the audience? Yuya is like 14 year old, ffs. It'd make a bit more sense if he was around the Shivers kid's age. And why doesn't every other duelist in the show do it, if it would help them find the Action spells easier?

The whole angle of Yuya babbling about egao as a way to resolve conflicts/duels never made sense to me.
